‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Finale Shocks Fans with Deaths of Major Characters
‘Euphoria’ delivered its most heart-wrenching episode yet with a season 3 finale that resulted in the deaths of several major characters, including Rue, portrayed by Zendaya.
In the HBO finale, titled “In God We Trust,” four pivotal characters met their tragic ends before the episode concluded. These shocking deaths have raised questions about the future of the series following such a dramatic conclusion.
One of the first significant deaths occurred when Laurie, played by Martha Kelly, realized there was no escape as authorities closed in on her drug operation. Faced with imminent arrest, Laurie chose to take her own life, setting off a tragic chain of events that unfolded throughout the episode.
Rue’s journey took an even darker turn later in the finale. After assisting authorities in targeting a criminal organization, she unwittingly became a target herself. Alamo, played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, discovered Rue’s covert actions against him. While feigning support for her recovery, he provided her with pills that were secretly laced with fentanyl.
As Rue recuperated at Ali’s apartment, she experienced what seemed to be a final dream. She envisioned returning home to find her mother waiting for her in the kitchen, accompanied by memories of her late father. The audience soon realized that Rue was overdosing while immersed in these visions.
The following morning, Ali discovered Rue had died.
The episode also featured a tribute to the late actor Angus Cloud. In a television report aired during the finale, viewers learned that Fezco had escaped from prison, serving as a poignant nod to Cloud’s character and legacy on the series.
After finding Rue dead, Ali reached a breaking point. During a final appearance at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, he candidly expressed the pain of losing individuals to addiction.
“I’m tired of losing people,” Ali stated. “[I’m tired of] talking to kids, helping kids, pouring my f—ing heart and soul into kids, only to not see them get a second chance. I’m done.”
He continued, “Only thing I know for certain is that there’s a right and a wrong in this world, no in between. You’re either making the world a better place, or you’re making it worse. In the end, it’s that f—ing simple.”

Ali then confronted Alamo directly. The final showdown unfolded at Alamo’s strip club, where G, played by Marshawn Lynch, was killed. Alamo also met his demise after one of his own allies betrayed him during a standoff with Ali.
By the time the credits rolled, Laurie, Rue, G, and Alamo were all dead. Their deaths followed just one week after another major character, Nate, was killed in the previous episode.
The finale concluded on a quieter note. Ali visited the Texas farm that had profoundly impacted Rue earlier in the season. Sharing a meal with the family he had met there, he found a small sense of peace amidst the chaos.
This information comes from HBO’s season 3 finale of ‘Euphoria,’ which is now available to stream on HBO Max. With several major characters gone, many fans are left wondering if the series has reached its ultimate conclusion.
