‘Euphoria’ Season 4 Rumors Spark Confusion Over Sam Levinson’s Future
Fans of ‘Euphoria’ recently found themselves questioning the show’s future due to a viral post that turned out to be from a parody account. The post claimed that Season 4 would proceed with a new showrunner after Sam Levinson stepped away, leading many viewers to speculate about the series continuing without him.
The misleading information originated from a parody account named Buzz Crave, which is not affiliated with any legitimate entertainment news outlet. The account shared a message on X stating, “Euphoria has been renewed for Season 4 with a new showrunner, as Sam Levinson steps down.”
Despite the account’s bio clearly indicating it is a parody, the post quickly gained traction online. Many fans reacted as if the announcement were genuine, discussing the potential changes a new creative team could bring to the storyline.
Some viewers humorously mentioned unresolved plotlines they wished to see addressed, including character arcs that remained unfinished. One fan quipped, “Right! maybe Rue and Nate can be resurrected and crazy Cassie becomes a better person.” Another joked that a new writer could finally clarify the fate of Laurie, the menacing drug dealer from the series, or revive McKay’s storyline.
Conversely, some fans expressed skepticism about the show continuing. They felt that the series had already reached its natural conclusion and did not require another season.
The fabricated announcement garnered significant attention, with the original post amassing over 800,000 views. This reaction highlights how passionately fans feel about the series, even after its conclusion.
However, there is currently no official plan for a fourth season of ‘Euphoria’. Levinson has previously indicated that the third season was intended to serve as the story’s conclusion. Following the finale, he elaborated on why the ending focused on Rue’s challenging journey.
“It just felt like the honest ending,” Levinson stated in a post-episode clip. “The honest ending is people like Rue don’t make it.”
The creator also clarified that the finale was meant to wrap up the story rather than pave the way for another chapter. The final episode reportedly drew 8.7 million viewers for HBO, indicating that interest in the series remained strong until the end.
Since its premiere in 2019, ‘Euphoria’ has quickly become one of HBO’s most discussed dramas. It returned with two special episodes before Season 2, while the third and final season faced multiple delays due to production challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic and industry strikes.

The lengthy wait between seasons helped cultivate a massive fanbase, which may explain why rumors of a potential comeback spread so rapidly. Many viewers remain attached to characters like Rue, Cassie, Nate, and the rest of the East Highland group.
For now, the notion of ‘Euphoria’ returning without Levinson seems to be nothing more than an online rumor. While fans may continue to hope for more stories from this universe, the official ending remains the conclusion of Rue’s journey.
