The first look at David Corenswet as Superman on the set of ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has finally been unveiled, offering fans an exciting sneak peek at the next chapter in the DC Universe.

New set images showcase Corenswet fully suited up as the iconic Man of Steel while filming scenes for the upcoming movie. He reprises his role as Clark Kent following his debut in ‘Superman’ (2025), which kicked off the new DCU under the creative vision of writer and director James Gunn.

‘Man of Tomorrow’ is set to be a significant installment in the Superman franchise, featuring the hero as he confronts one of his most formidable foes yet. According to details released by DC Studios, the film will depict Superman and Lex Luthor reluctantly teaming up against a much greater threat: Brainiac.

Corenswet stars alongside Nicholas Hoult, who reprises his role as Lex Luthor. The cast also features Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, and Milly Alcock. Lars Eidinger joins the film as Brainiac, while Aaron Pierre is also part of the cast in an undisclosed role.

The film is being written and directed by James Gunn, who is also producing alongside Peter Safran through DC Studios. It will serve as a direct sequel to ‘Superman’ and is currently positioned to be the fourth movie in the DC Universe franchise.

The concept for the sequel began to take shape even before ‘Superman’ hit theaters. Gunn revealed that he was already developing a follow-up in June 2025, ahead of the first film’s release the following month. The title ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and initial story details were officially disclosed in September 2025.

Production is now in full swing. Principal photography commenced on April 20, primarily at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia. The production is also utilizing the working title Exodus during filming.

Multiple locations are being used for the film. In addition to Georgia, scenes are being shot in the United Kingdom and Cincinnati, Ohio. Terminal Station in Macon, Georgia, is reportedly serving as a stand-in for the Daily Planet newsroom.

Casting announcements continue to roll in as filming progresses. In early May, Matthew Lillard and Sinqua Walls joined the cast in undisclosed roles. Lillard is known for his work on the live-action Scooby-Doo films, which were penned by Gunn. Around the same time, it was confirmed that Milly Alcock would reprise her role as Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl.

The cinematography for the film is being handled by Sam McCurdy, who previously collaborated with Gunn on ‘Peacemaker’. Frank Grillo is expected to spend about ten weeks filming between the UK and Georgia, while Lars Eidinger’s involvement in the project is scheduled to continue through the end of August.

Filming is anticipated to carry on until mid-2026.

According to information shared by DC Studios and production reports, ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is slated to premiere in theaters on July 9, 2027, through Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will be part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most significant releases yet.
