Few animated series have concluded as many times as ‘Futurama’. The show first premiered in 1999, faced cancellation by Fox, returned, was canceled again by Comedy Central in 2013, and made a comeback when Hulu revived it in 2023. Each farewell has turned out to be temporary.

This history made the latest finale feel like a joke that the writers were in on. Season 14 concluded on September 28 with an episode titled ‘Final Ending: The Last Conclusion’, a name that humorously references the show’s numerous returns. Fans are left questioning whether this is truly the end.

Now ‘Futurama’ has added a little extra surprise. Hulu has released a brand-new post-credits scene for the Season 14 finale, which was revealed to fans during the New York Comic Con 2026 weekend. The teaser clip runs for 1 minute and 13 seconds, starting with a bright beam of blue and white light piercing the darkness.

This scene serves as an additional moment following the finale, accompanied by a playful prompt asking viewers if they are curious about what happens next. Hulu has kept details under wraps, leaving much of the clip’s significance open to interpretation. All episodes of the season are currently available for streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

The finale itself revolves around the theme of closure. It revisits Fry’s childhood, where he and his brother Yancy sneaked into a PG-13 movie but never discovered how it ended. Fry spends the episode in pursuit of the ending he missed, ultimately achieving that satisfaction.

Simultaneously, the finale avoids providing the series with a definitive conclusion. It leaves the Planet Express crew alive and the possibility open for another continuation. This approach aligns perfectly with a show that has experienced multiple cancellations and revivals.

Season 14 debuted on August 3, featuring two episodes on premiere day and a new episode released every Monday until the finale. The season consists of ten episodes, marking the 14th season overall and the fourth in the Hulu era. Reviews have noted the season’s consistency and abundance of gags, with the episode ‘Our Flag Means Medical Coverage’ highlighted as a standout.

One review remarked that while the season does not reinvent the formula, it doesn’t need to. It praised the voice cast and stated that the finale concludes on a strong note by poking fun at the television industry’s obsession with series finales. Overall, the season has been well-received as a comfortable return for long-time fans.

According to a report from TVLine, Hulu has no plans for a traditional Season 15. However, the studio has commissioned three supersized specials, each approximately 66 minutes long. The first special, a Christmas-themed episode featuring the return of Robot Santa, is scheduled for 2027, but no specific date has been announced.

Creator Matt Groening has been somewhat vague about the other two specials. He mentioned to Variety that the show has been on air since 1999 and that there is still more to explore in the characters’ overall story arc. This has sparked hope that the specials will address lingering questions from the series.

Additionally, fans of Groening’s universe have another treat to look forward to. A hardcover comic collection titled ‘Simpsons Futurama Crossover Crisis’ is set to be released on December 2. This book reunites the two series, which previously crossed over in the 2014 episode ‘Simpsorama’ and earlier comics.

Together, the specials and the comic demonstrate that the franchise is not fading away. If anything, the post-credits scene serves as a reminder that ‘Futurama’ seldom stays away for long. For a show with so many endings, one more teaser feels perfectly on-brand.
