Last December, the entire family was granted French citizenship, as noted in a decree published in the Journal Officiel. Amal was naturalized under her maiden name, Amal Alamuddin, and the twins are being raised to be multilingual, speaking English, Italian, and French.

Amal has discussed the difficulties of maintaining private moments, stating in a 2025 Glamour interview that creating private spaces is increasingly challenging. This is one reason the couple often hosts gatherings at home, where she keeps a basket for guests to leave their phones.
