Gigi Paris Breaks Silence on Glen Powell Breakup: “I Felt Like I Was Fed to the Dogs”
Gigi Paris, who dated Glen Powell for nearly four years, is finally speaking out about their breakup and how it played out in public. On a recent episode of the Too Much podcast, she opened up about what it felt like watching rumors fly about Powell and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney while she was still trying to hold on to their relationship.
The gossip started around the time the romantic comedy was being promoted. Even though it was clear that Powell and Sweeney weren’t actually dating, they didn’t try to stop the rumors. Instead, they leaned into them.
The idea was to use the buzz to help the movie do better, and it worked. Anyone But You ended up making $220 million around the world, according to The New York Times.
Paris didn’t name Powell directly on the podcast, but it was clear who she was talking about. She said she felt humiliated by how the whole thing was handled.
“I just wanted respect, especially if it’s gonna be public,” she said. “Like, don’t make an ass out of me. Like, just don’t make a fool out of someone you’ve been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?”
Paris said she decided to walk away when she realized she was the only one trying to clear up the situation. She explained that Powell told her not to visit him on the movie set in Australia, and that’s when everything fell apart.
“He called and said, ‘The producers and I have discussed that I think it’s best that you don’t come to visit’… And that’s when I hung up. And I was like, this motherfucker is done to me,” she said. “That phone call really is what broke me.”
She described feeling “shattered” by how it all ended and said she had hoped things might get better if she made the trip. But after that call, she realized the relationship was over. “I had lost whoever that person was that I loved,” she added.
After the movie became a surprise hit, both Powell and Sweeney admitted to The New York Times in April 2024 that they played along with the romance rumors to get more attention for the film. Powell said, “Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry… sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”
Sweeney, who also helped produce the movie, said she saw the gossip as part of the job. “I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film, because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative,” she told The Times.
Now, even after everything, Powell seems open to working with Sweeney again. He told Variety that they’re reading scripts and looking for something else they can do together. “Please send us all the scripts you got,” he said. “You know we’re here for it.”
As of now, Powell hasn’t responded to Paris’ comments on the podcast. Variety has reached out to his team.
