Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater soap has officially become one of the strangest and most popular celebrity products of the year. A limited-edition soap made using water she actually bathed in went on sale recently, and it sold out almost instantly.

The product, called Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss, was a collaboration between Sweeney and the men’s personal care brand Dr. Squatch. It all started after she appeared in a 2024 ad for the company, where she was shown relaxing in a tub while using their body wash.

After that, fans flooded social media with jokes and comments about wanting her bathwater. Instead of brushing it off, Sweeney and Dr. Squatch decided to run with the idea.

In a post on Instagram, Sweeney wrote, “You kept asking about my bathwater after the @drsquatch ad… so we kept it. Introducing Sydney’s Bathwater Bliss! A very real, very limited-edition soap made with my actual bathwater.”

The soap was made with ingredients like pine bark extract, sand for exfoliating, and yes—real bathwater from Sweeney. Only 5,000 bars were made and sold online for $8 each. But getting one wasn’t easy.

Fans rushed the website as soon as it went live at noon Eastern, and it sold out in seconds. Many buyers said they couldn’t even get to checkout, with some claiming the wait time was over 250 minutes. Others said the website crashed completely.

Some people even questioned whether the soap had actually gone on sale at all. But the Dr. Squatch team replied to one doubter online by saying, “Nah, it was there. People just bought it in .0001 seconds.”

Soon after the sellout, bars of the soap began appearing on resale sites like eBay, where prices ranged from around $100 all the way up to more than $1,000 per bar.

Dr. Squatch also gave away 100 bars as part of a promotion, and described the soap in one post as “a perfect combination of the two best places on the planet: The outdoors and Sydney Sweeney’s bathtub.” The scent was inspired by the Pacific Northwest and included pine, Douglas fir, and moss.

In a press release shared last week, Sweeney called the product “weird in the best way.” At the New York premiere of her new film Echo Valley, she told E! News that the idea was actually hers. “I think that it’s more fun to see everybody else talk about it,” she added, keeping things mysterious just days before the launch.

It’s safe to say the soap created a wave online, with many fans eager to get a piece of the unexpected product. And now, with prices soaring on resale sites, it looks like this odd little piece of pop culture might be sticking around for a while, just maybe not in your shower.
