Helena Bonham Carter Exits ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 Early in Production

Helena Bonham Carter is no longer part of the upcoming fourth season of ‘The White Lotus’, as reported by Deadline.

The 59-year-old actress had been involved in the early stages of production. However, HBO announced that the role she was set to portray will now be reworked and recast after issues arose once filming commenced.

An HBO spokesperson shared insights into the situation in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “The character Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” the spokesperson stated.

The statement added that the creative team attempted to adjust the role during production but ultimately decided to completely rework it. The character will be rewritten and recast in the upcoming weeks.

HBO expressed disappointment regarding the change, emphasizing their respect for the actress and hope for future collaboration. Both the producers and creator Mike White were saddened by the outcome.

Production on season 4 had just begun when this decision was made. The new season is set in France and will be filmed in various locations, including the French Riviera. Reports indicate that shooting will occur in cities such as Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, and parts of Paris.
