Daveigh Chase, the talented actress renowned for voicing Lilo in Disney’s ‘Lilo & Stitch’ and for her haunting role as Samara Morgan in ‘The Ring’, has tragically passed away at the age of 35.

As reported by TMZ, Chase died on Tuesday after battling meningitis and a severe blood infection. Her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, shared that the illness resulted in septic complications that ultimately led to her body shutting down.

TMZ further revealed that Chase had been hospitalized in Los Angeles earlier this month due to malnutrition, although additional details regarding her health have not been disclosed.

Chase became a familiar face to audiences at a young age, building an impressive career in both film and television. Many fans first recognized her voice in Disney’s 2002 animated classic ‘Lilo & Stitch’, where she portrayed the title character, Lilo Pelekai. The film’s success helped introduce Chase to a global audience, and she later reprised her role in the television series based on the movie.

In the same year, Chase also lent her voice to another beloved animated film, portraying Chihiro Ogino in the English version of the acclaimed Japanese film ‘Spirited Away’, which remains one of the most celebrated animated features ever.

While she excelled in family-friendly roles, Chase made a significant impact in the horror genre as well. In 2002, she took on the role of Samara Morgan in ‘The Ring’, a supernatural thriller that became a box office sensation. Her chilling portrayal of the film’s ghostly antagonist is remembered as one of the most iconic horror performances of the decade.

This role garnered Chase widespread acclaim and established her as a promising young actress in Hollywood. She was even awarded an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain for her performance in the film.

As she matured, Chase continued to work steadily in television. One of her standout roles was in HBO’s ‘Big Love’, where she played Rhonda Volmer. She appeared in 32 episodes of the drama series, which depicted the lives of a fundamentalist Mormon family practicing polygamy. Her character became a memorable part of the show throughout its five-season run.

Over the years, Chase also featured in various film and television projects, including ‘Donnie Darko’, ‘Beethoven’s 5th’, ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch’, ‘ER’, and ‘Mercy’. Her versatility allowed her to showcase her talent across multiple genres.

In recent years, Chase had largely stepped back from the limelight. TMZ noted that she faced several legal challenges over the years, which occasionally brought her back into the public eye. Despite these difficulties, many fans continued to cherish her for the performances that defined her early career.

For a generation of moviegoers, Chase’s voice became instantly recognizable through ‘Lilo & Stitch’, while horror enthusiasts will forever remember the chilling image of Samara emerging from a television screen in ‘The Ring’. Her performances have left an enduring legacy in both animation and horror cinema.
