Iman Vellani Reveals She Pointed Out Continuity Errors on ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘The Marvels’
Iman Vellani recently shared insights about her experiences on Marvel projects, revealing that she frequently pointed out continuity errors while filming both ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘The Marvels.’ She acknowledged her awareness of how quickly fans, particularly those on Reddit, would catch small mistakes.
She mentioned, “I was like, ‘I know Reddit nerds are going to call it out. I’m calling it out now. You have the opportunity to fix it now.’ But you know, these things have to get like approved by 40 different producers.”
Despite the complex production process, Vellani felt supported by the creative team. She described her experience positively, noting that she was given ample freedom to voice her thoughts during filming. She added, “But I got so lucky that I was given so much space to express myself at Marvel. All the producers that I was working with on both the show and the film really respected my opinion… So they really used me as their secret weapon in a way.”
‘Ms. Marvel’ was developed as part of Marvel Studios’ initiative to introduce younger heroes into the MCU. The series centers on Kamala Khan, a teenage superhero enthusiast who acquires powers and navigates the challenges of her new identity alongside her everyday life. The show received acclaim for its fresh tone, strong cultural representation, and Vellani’s lead performance.
Critics generally responded favorably, particularly praising its visual style and character-driven storytelling. Many reviews highlighted it as one of Marvel’s most distinctive Disney+ series, although some viewers felt its powers and plot were more grounded compared to other MCU offerings. Nonetheless, it was widely regarded as a solid introduction for a new hero.
The series also set the stage for events in ‘The Marvels,’ with Marvel Studios confirming early on that Kamala Khan would transition from television to film within the MCU. According to Feige, the character’s introduction was strategically designed to connect with future storylines.

‘The Marvels,’ which features Kamala Khan alongside Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau, received a more mixed critical response. Some praised its humor, the chemistry among the leads, and Vellani’s standout performance, while others felt the story was uneven and rushed in certain areas. Nevertheless, Vellani’s role was frequently highlighted as one of the film’s strongest aspects.

Vellani has also shown interest in continuing Kamala’s journey in future projects. She mentioned potential ideas for a second season of ‘Ms. Marvel,’ including the introduction of new villains that could resonate with younger audiences. She expressed excitement about how the character’s comic book developments, particularly her mutant reveal in Marvel Comics, could eventually be incorporated into the MCU.
The production journey of both ‘Ms. Marvel’ and ‘The Marvels’ illustrates Marvel’s efforts to closely link its Disney+ series with its films. Vellani’s comments provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the collaboration and adjustments that occur during this process, especially when constructing a shared universe with numerous interconnected elements.
