Few franchises have endured as long or as loudly as ‘Jackass,’ a series defined by outrageous stunts, pranks, and a complete disregard for personal safety that has become one of comedy’s most iconic institutions. For over two decades, Johnny Knoxville and his ever-changing crew of daredevils have found inventive ways to entertain audiences through their reckless antics.

This wild journey officially concluded earlier this year when ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ premiered in theaters on June 26, marking the fifth and final main installment of the franchise. Directed once again by Jeff Tremaine, the film reunites the original cast, including Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Dave England, Danger Ehren, Preston Lacy, Bam Margera, and Ehren McGhehey, for one last chaotic adventure.

Now, fans can look forward to streaming the farewell. ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ will be available on Paramount+ starting September 24, providing those who missed its theatrical release the opportunity to enjoy the franchise’s send-off from the comfort of their homes.

The film creatively combines decades of footage, featuring beloved stunts and pranks from the franchise’s history alongside brand-new segments filmed specifically for this farewell, as well as previously unseen material from the archives. This format allows long-time fans to revisit the franchise’s most memorable moments while still enjoying fresh content featuring the current cast.

The movie arrives four years after ‘Jackass Forever,’ during which Knoxville suffered serious injuries from a bull, including a brain hemorrhage, concussion, broken wrist, and broken rib, which ultimately led him to semi-retirement from the more dangerous stunts. This injury serves as a poignant reminder of the physical toll these films have taken and provides a fitting reason for the franchise to conclude its chapter.

Knoxville expressed his emotions regarding the film’s finality during a CinemaCon appearance, stating to Variety that this marks the last ‘Jackass’ film the world will ever see. He explained that knowing it would be their final outing motivated the crew to push themselves even harder to create the best entry in the franchise’s history.

This sentiment was echoed in Paramount’s announcement for the film, where Knoxville described it as a compilation of the crew’s favorite bits from across the shows and movies, combined with strong new material. He referred to the finished product as a love letter and gift to both himself and the audience that has supported the franchise for 25 years.

Beyond the stunts, ‘Best and Last’ emphasizes the relationships that have characterized the franchise since its inception, reflecting on the friendships that have fueled one of entertainment’s most enduring comedy institutions. This blend of nostalgia and genuine camaraderie has been a consistent theme throughout the series, dating back to its big-screen debut in 2002.

With the first five ‘Jackass’ theatrical films already available for streaming on Paramount+, the addition of ‘Best and Last’ completes the collection, providing subscribers with a comprehensive archive of the franchise’s evolution from an MTV stunt show to a five-time box office series.

As ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ gears up for its streaming debut, the film signifies more than just another entry in a long-running series. It serves as a heartfelt farewell from a group of performers who built their careers on pushing physical limits for laughs, concluding a legacy that has resonated with generations of viewers.
