‘Jackass’ Tension Reignites as Steve-O Confronts Bam Margera Over Fallout
Steve-O has recently addressed Bam Margera during the release of the new and final Jackass film Jackass: Best and Last, bringing renewed focus to the ongoing fallout between the two former co-stars.
The latest film features most of the original Jackass team, but Bam Margera is notably absent after being removed during the production of Jackass Forever in 2022. His exit followed a reported breach of a “wellness agreement” in his contract, which was related to concerns about his sobriety and personal health at that time.
Margera’s departure from the project led to a public legal dispute, including a lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville and co-creator Jeff Tremaine. While tensions between the former friends escalated, they have somewhat cooled in recent years.
In Jackass: Best and Last, Margera does not return as a full cast member. Instead, he is featured only through previously recorded archival footage from Jackass Forever. Initially, fans hoped he might be part of the final film, but Margera later clarified that his involvement was limited to past material included under agreement.
Steve-O recently discussed the situation on the TMZ podcast, reflecting on the state of the Jackass group and Bam Margera’s recovery. He expressed positivity about Margera being in a better place personally, especially after years of documented struggles with addiction and multiple rehab stays.

Margera has publicly stated that he has been sober for two years, which many view as a significant step in his recovery journey. His parents have also shared positive updates about his condition, noting that he is doing well and continuing to improve.
During the podcast, Steve-O mentioned that while he is pleased with Margera’s progress, there are still unresolved issues from the past that need to be addressed for full reconciliation to occur. He stressed that accountability is a crucial aspect of recovery and rebuilding relationships.
“If he could take accountability for what happened in the past and say, ‘You know what, that’s what happened and now I’m healthy. I’m willing to admit my part,’ that’s recovery,” Steve-O remarked.
His comments highlight the ongoing emotional distance between Margera and some of his former castmates, even as public updates indicate improvement in his personal life.
Margera’s parents also spoke positively about his progress during interviews surrounding the film’s premiere. His father Phil Margera stated, “He’s fantastic. I’m knocking on wood every day, but he’s fantastic.” His mother April Margera added, “He’s actually doing really, really well.”
There are indications that reconciliation within the Jackass group may still be possible in the future, although no official reunion plans have been announced. For now, Steve-O’s remarks underscore both progress and unresolved history as the franchise wraps up this chapter with Jackass: Best and Last.
