This week, it was announced that actor Jacob Elordi will not be attending the Cannes Film Festival, where he was reportedly in consideration for an official jury role.

The prestigious festival, one of the largest events in global cinema, is scheduled to take place from May 12 to May 23 this year, featuring prominent figures from the film industry.

According to reports from Variety and Page Six, Elordi had to withdraw due to a broken foot. An insider mentioned by Page Six confirmed that this injury prevented him from participating in the jury panel.

The Cannes jury typically comprises well-known actors and industry professionals who view the competition films and determine the winner of the Palme d’Or, the festival’s top honor. This year’s jury was officially revealed on May 4, and Elordi was not part of the final selection.

Meanwhile, the news quickly circulated online, prompting reactions from fans of ‘Euphoria’, where Elordi portrays Nate Jacobs. The timing was particularly notable due to a recent storyline involving his character.

In a recent episode, Nate experiences a violent altercation that leads to a graphic injury to his foot. This scene prompted some fans to humorously speculate about a connection between the fictional injury and Elordi’s real-life situation.

On social media platform X, users expressed a mix of shock and humor. One user commented, “Omg it’s because they cut his toe off in Euphoria….” Another quipped, “foot injury? you mean toe?” Others joked about method acting or suggested that the coincidence was too uncanny to dismiss.

However, there is no actual link between the show and Elordi’s injury. Reports clarified that the scene in ‘Euphoria’ utilized a prosthetic effect during filming, not a real injury. Actor Jack Topalian, who appears in that scene, discussed the filming process in an interview with Page Six, explaining, “The clippers that they gave me have pretty sharp edges. So I had to be really mindful of that, because at one point, I do put it around Jake’s toe.”

He added, “If I squeezed a little too hard, it would literally cut his toe. But, everything turned out well! There were no mishaps, no accidents.”
