Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow Reunite 22 Years After ‘Friends’ Fans Are Emotional
Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow may have concluded ‘Friends’ over two decades ago, but their friendship continues to thrive. The two Emmy-winning actresses recently came together for a heartfelt discussion with Variety, filled with laughter, cherished memories, and even some emotional moments.
During their conversation, Aniston and Kudrow reflected on their careers, the iconic sitcom, and the projects that keep them busy today. This reunion marked their first meeting in about a year and a half.
Kudrow shared that she has been focused on the third and final season of ‘The Comeback’, the HBO comedy she co-created with Michael Patrick King, which has required her full attention.
As they reminisced, the conversation naturally shifted to ‘Friends’. Kudrow admitted that for many years, she rarely watched the show after it aired. “There were whole episodes that I hadn’t seen,” she confessed. “I just couldn’t sit there at home and have anybody walk by seeing me watching a show that I’m in. Because it felt embarrassing to me.”
However, that perspective changed over time. Kudrow revealed that she eventually watched the series and ended up loving it. “Loved it with all my heart,” she said. “It made me so happy to watch it.” She also complimented her former co-stars, including Aniston. “You were really good, Jennifer,” Kudrow told her longtime friend.
Aniston reflected on the factors that contributed to ‘Friends’ success, attributing it to the chemistry among the six main stars.
“That was such lightning in a bottle,” Aniston remarked. “The chemistry of all of us. And the writers played off of us and our relationships, which were truly genuine.” The duo also explored the idea of collaborating again. Kudrow expressed her willingness to return to the sitcom format if a compelling project arose. “I would love to do another one, if anyone wrote a good one,” she stated.
This led to a playful pitch involving another ‘Friends’ star. “Can we do you, me and Courteney?” Kudrow suggested, referring to Courteney Cox. Aniston enthusiastically responded, “Girlfriends. Let’s pitch it.” The conversation later turned to artificial intelligence, a topic that will be featured in the upcoming final season of ‘The Comeback’. Kudrow noted that society is still learning how AI will impact entertainment.
“I feel like we’re going to learn a lot about what doesn’t work,” she said. Aniston concurred, admitting that she still has numerous questions regarding the rapidly evolving technology.
The most poignant moment occurred when they reminisced about Stage 24 at Warner Bros., the soundstage where ‘Friends’ was filmed. Kudrow recently returned to that stage while working on ‘The Comeback’, which brought both actresses to tears as they reflected on the conclusion of two significant chapters in their careers.
They also reminisced about Kudrow’s son, Julian Stern, who was born during the ‘Friends’ era and has now appeared in ‘The Comeback’. Aniston spoke fondly of him, recalling how he grew up surrounded by laughter on the iconic sitcom set.
More than 20 years after ‘Friends’ concluded, Aniston and Kudrow’s reunion demonstrated that their bond remains as strong as ever. Their conversation was filled with nostalgia, humor, and genuine affection, reminding fans why their friendship has endured long after the cameras stopped rolling.
