In the Star Trek universe, Seven of Nine is a character with a very special place in the hearts of many fans. The character debuted a long time ago in the episode “Scorpion” of Voyager, which aired in 1997.

Since then, the character has been a constant presence in the lore and one of the most popular characters of the whole franchise. Portrayed by Jeri Ryan, the character was made with a lot of care and depth, becoming one of the best-written characters in the franchise as a whole.

The character reappeared in the franchise in Picard, also portrayed by Jeri Ryan, and the season left Seven promoted to Captain of the USS Enterprise-G. Since then, there have been talks about a potential spin-off and Ryan recently addressed them in a talk with the media.

The main focus of the interview was Ryan’s role in Leverage: Redemption but, of course, the question of Ryan’s Star Trek future had to be addressed, and it was. This was done in light of talks of a sequel series that would continue the story of Picard.

Namely, after the conclusion of the series, there have been talks of a spin-off series titled Star Trek: Legacy, which would be a perfect setting to explore Seven’s tenure as a Captain. And while Ryan herself doesn’t have any information about the series, she did comment on it.

“You know what, one thing that this entire Star Trek experience has taught me is never say never,” she said. “Because I was sure that I had said goodbye to this character and walked away from this franchise many years ago, and I never, ever, ever in a million years expected that I would be back playing her on Picard. So, who knows? Never say never.”

As you can see, it’s not much, it’s not a confirmation, but she is willing to return, which is definitely a good sign. What is not a good sign is that Paramount+ is treating Star Trek in a strange way at this point, so until we get something from them, we’ll have to wait and hope.
