Jim Orr of Universal Calls Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ a “Once-in-a-Generation” Movie
Set for a 2026 release, The Odyssey is a very promising project, and many believe that Christopher Nolan can outdo himself in this adaptation of Homer’s epic. And while we know a lot of information about the movie, many details are still under tight wraps.
From time to time, we get some leaks or rumors, or even official news, but it’s still a big mystery at this point. What we do know is that expectations are high, and even the studio execs are building the hype.
In a recent appearance at the CinemaCon, Universal president Jim Orr had only words of praise for Nolan’s upcoming movie.
Orr was highly proud of the movie and the whole project, calling it a “once-in-a-generation” film, adding that it is a “cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would quite likely be proud of.” Whether the blind Greek poet would be proud beyond us, but knowing Nolan – the movie will be absolutely amazing.
This is certainly encouraging, although we think that the number of those doubting Nolan’s ability to create a proper epic was generally small.
With Nolan writing and directing, the movie will feature a stellar cast that includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page in some of the bigger roles.
Other cast members include Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay, Jimmy Gonzales, Maurice Compte, Michael Vlamis, Iddo Goldberg, Josh Stewart, Cosmo Jarvis, and Ryan Hurst.
It is currently scheduled for a July 17, 2026 release.
