Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas Star in New Erotic Thriller ‘Palm Grove’
Kate Hudson and Ana de Armas are teaming up for an exciting new thriller that is already making waves in Hollywood. As reported by Deadline, the two actresses will star in ‘Palm Grove,’ an original erotic thriller being developed by Chernin Entertainment.
The film is based on a screenplay by writer James Morosini, who is also set to serve as an executive producer. Award-winning director Kornél Mundruczó is attached to helm the project. Chernin Entertainment is preparing to pitch the film package to studios and streaming platforms, with insiders suggesting that the combination of its star-studded cast and talented creative team is likely to generate significant interest.
Set in one of Miami’s most exclusive neighborhoods, ‘Palm Grove’ follows a seemingly perfect wife who uncovers her husband’s hidden secret life. This shocking revelation leads her into a dangerous and seductive game of power, where betrayal becomes a thrilling challenge.
Producers for the film include Peter Chernin, David Ready, and Brady Fujikawa. The new thriller comes on the heels of Chernin Entertainment’s recent deal with Apple for the romantic comedy ‘One Month Mark,’ starring Jennifer Lawrence. The company has been gaining momentum with several successful projects, including ‘Backrooms,’ which grossed over $260 million worldwide, and ‘Apex,’ which topped Netflix’s global English film chart.
Both Hudson and de Armas bring significant star power to ‘Palm Grove.’ Hudson has had a standout year, especially with her acclaimed role in ‘Song Sung Blue,’ which garnered nominations from major awards bodies. She is also the star and executive producer of Netflix’s comedy series ‘Running Point,’ which has been renewed for another season. Currently, Hudson is filming ‘Hello & Paris’ alongside Javier Bardem.
De Armas has emerged as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after actresses. She received an Academy Award nomination for her role in ‘Blonde’ and a Golden Globe nomination for ‘Knives Out.’ Her recent projects include the action film ‘Ballerina’ and the James Bond movie ‘No Time to Die.’ She is also working on the Apple TV+ limited series ‘Safe Houses.’
Director Kornél Mundruczó brings a wealth of experience to ‘Palm Grove.’ The Hungarian filmmaker is known for acclaimed works like ‘White God,’ which won a prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and ‘Pieces of a Woman,’ executive produced by Martin Scorsese. His latest project, ‘At the Sea,’ premiered at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival, and he has another film, ‘The Place to Be,’ on the horizon.
Morosini is also establishing himself as a filmmaker known for original storytelling. He wrote, directed, and starred in ‘I Love My Dad,’ which won awards at SXSW before being released by Magnolia. His credits also include ‘Mommy’s Home’ for Lionsgate and ‘Inner Child,’ which is in development for the Lego universe.
With Hudson, de Armas, Mundruczó, and Morosini involved, ‘Palm Grove’ is poised to be one of the most talked-about thriller projects currently seeking a studio. More details regarding the release date and the studio behind the film are expected to be announced soon.
