Keanu Reeves recently shared how much it meant to him to get a shoutout from Tom Cruise. The comment came after Cruise mentioned the new John Wick spinoff, Ballerina, during a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight. Cruise seemed excited about the summer’s movie lineup and made sure to show support for the upcoming film starring Reeves and Ana de Armas.

While talking about all the exciting films coming out this summer, Cruise said, “You’ve got the John Wick series, with, you know, Keanu and Ana, they’re going to do Ballerina…” That small moment of support really touched Reeves, who was later asked about it during his own red carpet interview for Ballerina.

Reeves lit up when he heard what Cruise had said. He told Entertainment Tonight, “Yeah, I mean, he’s a legend, you know, I don’t know if he has an equal. The career that he’s had, in action and performing, you know, he’s very special; he’s one of the best. It’s cool to have a shoutout from the legend.”

Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves have been in the movie business for decades, and both are known for doing their own stunts. Cruise, in particular, has been a big supporter of theatrical releases and action films, especially after theaters struggled during the pandemic. He’s made it clear that he wants people to enjoy the full movie experience again, and he often praises other actors who help keep action films exciting.

This isn’t the first time Cruise has talked about Reeves with admiration. He once said that he basically “grew up with Keanu” and respects the hard work he puts into every movie. In another interview, Cruise said, “I know what it takes to do that stuff, so I always call him. I’m like, ‘Hats off, man, hats off,’ and I dig those movies, I really love it.”

The two actors may have very different styles, but they clearly respect each other. They both continue to make big movies that audiences love, and it’s nice to see them show support for each other, especially in a business that can often be competitive.
