Fans of ‘Kingdom Hearts’ have dedicated years to unraveling clues about Sora’s next journey, with one crossover capturing their imagination more than any other. Since Square Enix announced ‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ in 2022, the question of whether ‘Star Wars’ would finally join the franchise’s expanding collection of Disney worlds has been a hot topic.

This speculation has persisted through a series of teasers, cryptic trailers, and fan theories, all stemming from a single blurry frame of forest that resembled the Battle of Endor from ‘Return of the Jedi.’ Despite the buzz, Square Enix had not confirmed anything, leaving fans to rely on circumstantial evidence from early footage.

Recently, a significant leak of Steam achievements appears to have settled the matter. The datamined achievement list reveals several new worlds for ‘Kingdom Hearts 4,’ including confirmation of a ‘Star Wars’ world, providing fans with their first substantial evidence that this crossover is indeed happening.

The same leak points to additional new worlds, such as one based on ‘The Haunted Mansion’ and another inspired by ‘Zootopia,’ marking their debut in the franchise. Fan favorites are also set to return, including Toy Story’s Toy Box, which will make a comeback after its introduction in ‘Kingdom Hearts 3,’ along with the Underworld from ‘Hercules,’ which was last seen in ‘Kingdom Hearts 2.’

Two of the leaked world names have ignited further speculation among fans. One, titled “Monochrome Origins,” is thought to reference Disney’s early black-and-white cartoons like ‘Steamboat Willie,’ potentially functioning similarly to the Timeless River world from ‘Kingdom Hearts 2.’ The other, named “Imagineer Planet,” has fans guessing it might relate to Disney’s theme park engineers, known as Imagineers.

This leak comes just months after Square Enix broke a long silence on official news during a recent Nintendo Direct, where a new trailer confirmed that ‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ will also be available on Nintendo Switch 2, in addition to its previously announced releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The trailer provided fresh story details, showcasing Sora battling Heartless in the newly introduced real-world setting, Quadratum, while a mysterious figure in Organization XIII’s signature black coat hinted that this new world may exist outside the traditional light-versus-darkness conflict that has characterized the series.

This narrative shift aligns with Square Enix’s earlier announcement that ‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ will launch the franchise’s new Lost Master Arc, following the conclusion of the long-running Dark Seeker Saga. With a tentative release window set for 2027, fans now have a clearer idea of when they can expect to see how these new worlds integrate into Sora’s next chapter.

For a franchise that has long teased the possibility of Disney’s major acquisitions crossing over into its universe, the confirmation of a ‘Star Wars’ world marks a pivotal moment. It also prompts the lingering question fans have been asking: if ‘Star Wars’ can finally join ‘Kingdom Hearts,’ how much longer until Marvel receives the same treatment?

With leaks now substantiating what was once mere speculation, excitement for ‘Kingdom Hearts 4’ is sure to escalate as its 2027 release date approaches.
