Ali Larter shares that her life has become significantly calmer since she and her family made the move from Los Angeles to Sun Valley, Idaho. In an interview with Fox News Digital during the Newport Beach TV Fest, the ‘Landman’ actress revealed that their daily routine is now much more relaxed compared to their busy life in California.

Larter mentioned that their summers are now centered around family time rather than the hectic pace of Hollywood. Although her children have lost interest in hiking, the family still enjoys various outdoor activities together.

“Well, it’s totally different, so we can’t really get our kids to hike anymore. They don’t want to do that. But I can get them to take a bike ride and then do, like, a little cold plunge in the river,” Larter told Fox News Digital.

She highlighted that some of their cherished summer traditions are quite simple. The family loves hosting barbecues, spending quality time with their dogs, watching their daughter play volleyball, and visiting a local ice cream shop.

“We love to barbecue at our house. We love to play with our dogs. My daughter will probably play some volleyball. We’ll go to Leroy’s and get an ice cream cone. It’s just kind of simpler, and the days are really long. The sun’s out till like 10 at night now, so it’s been really beautiful to kind of have the kids out of school and enjoy the time with them,” she said.

Larter and her husband, actor Hayes MacArthur, are parents to two children, son Teddy, 15, and daughter Vivienne, 11. According to Fox News Digital, their move to Idaho started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Initially, they thought it would be a temporary stay before returning to California.

In a previous interview with Fox News Digital, Larter explained that while schools in California remained closed, those in Idaho reopened. This allowed their young daughter to attend kindergarten in person rather than learning online.

“We went for two months thinking that the kids’ schools would be reopened in California, and they weren’t. And, so, they were doing online, and the schools there were open. And, so, we were able to put our 6-year-old daughter in kindergarten for the spring semester,” she recalled.

During their time in Idaho, the family formed close bonds with local families and enjoyed spending more time outdoors. Larter noted that they made new friends through school, engaged in skiing, and appreciated the slower pace of life.

After returning to Los Angeles for the summer, she and her husband realized how demanding life in Hollywood had become. Larter explained that actors are often expected to attend auditions, parties, charity events, and numerous industry gatherings.

While she still feels a strong connection to Los Angeles, she acknowledged that her family’s priorities have shifted.

“We just didn’t want to do that. We wanna be with our children,” she said. “And, so, that’s when I think the biggest change was we came back after that summer, and we just made a go for it and said, ‘Let’s try this and see if it works.’”

Larter expressed her love for Los Angeles and its significance in her life, but noted that Idaho has provided her family with the balance they were seeking.

The actress attended the Newport Beach TV Fest to celebrate ‘Landman,’ the acclaimed drama in which she portrays Angela Norris, the outspoken ex-wife of Billy Bob Thornton’s character. While speaking with Fox News Digital, Larter described Angela as “a wildcat” and shared her desire to embody some of her character’s fearless spirit in her own life.
