Taylor Sheridan’s television success continues to expand, and now one of his hit series has achieved a significant milestone before its next season arrives. ‘Landman’ has won its first major industry award ahead of Season 3, adding yet another accomplishment to Sheridan’s growing list of successful projects.

The Academy of Country Music recently announced that ‘Landman’ will receive the ACM Film Award during the 19th ACM Honors event, scheduled to take place in Nashville this August. This award recognizes feature films and television shows that effectively incorporate country music into their storytelling. According to the Academy of Country Music, a key requirement for this honor is the prominent use of country music throughout the soundtrack.

This recognition comes at a pivotal time for the Paramount+ drama. ‘Landman’ has already completed two seasons and has become one of the streaming platform’s most successful original series. Created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, the show explores the oil business in Texas and stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris.

Season 2 received favorable reviews from both critics and audiences. Collider reported that the second season holds an 80% critics’ score on the review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes. The show’s popularity also surged among viewers, with the Season 2 finale attracting 15.8 million viewers within its first 48 hours, marking it as one of the biggest releases for Paramount+.

The success of ‘Landman’ exemplifies Sheridan’s expanding television empire. His breakthrough came with ‘Yellowstone’ in 2018, and since then, he has created several successful series for Paramount. In 2026 alone, Sheridan introduced two more projects, ‘The Madison’ and ‘Marshals’, while continuing to develop his existing shows. ‘Landman’ has become a vital part of that lineup, standing alongside other popular titles crafted by the writer and producer.

Paramount+ has already renewed ‘Landman’ for a third season, and production is currently underway. The upcoming episodes will continue Tommy Norris’ journey following the significant changes at the end of Season 2. Rather than staying in the corporate oil business, Tommy has opted to run his own company alongside his son, Cooper Norris, played by Jacob Lofland.

Before filming commenced, some fans speculated whether Billy Bob Thornton’s character might be written out of the series. This speculation intensified after several surprising story developments in Season 2. However, Thornton recently alleviated those concerns during an interview earlier this month.

Discussing the future of the series, the actor stated, “I think Taylor [Sheridan] is going to let me hang around.” His comment indicates that Tommy Norris will continue to play a significant role in the story moving forward. This reassurance comes after Jon Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, exited the show in Season 2, leaving many viewers curious about potential major changes.

With production already in progress and its first major award now secured, ‘Landman’ embarks on its next chapter with considerable momentum. According to Collider, the series remains one of Paramount+’s biggest success stories, and fans now have even more reason to anticipate Season 3.
