Marvel Executive Confirms Release Date Update for ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Season 2
Marvel Studios has officially announced that ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ season 2 is complete and on its way, though fans will need to be patient for the exact release date on Disney+.
This update was shared by Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum during an interview with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley at the Tribeca Film Festival. While discussing Marvel’s future projects, Winderbaum confirmed that the second season has already been wrapped up.
Winderbaum noted that Marvel is strategically planning the release schedule due to several major projects launching around the same time. The studio is gearing up for the release of ‘X-Men ’97’ season 2, ‘VisionQuest’, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. Given this packed lineup, Marvel aims to ensure that the animated Spider-Man series receives the attention it deserves upon its return.
While trying to recall the release plans, Winderbaum stated, “It is coming. It’s complete.” He further added, “I don’t think we’ve announced it yet, but there’s a lot coming out this year. X-Men ’97 and then VisionQuest. There’s a Spider-Man [Brand New Day] feature, there’s [Avengers:] Doomsday.” He emphasized that Marvel wants to “give it [Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2] a good place to live and breathe.”
The executive also revealed new insights about what fans can expect in the upcoming season. A major storyline will continue to revolve around Norman Osborn, voiced by Colman Domingo. Winderbaum praised Domingo’s performance and hinted that several long-standing story arcs will start to culminate significantly.
Discussing the forthcoming episodes, Winderbaum remarked, “Colman is so freaking good, and the Norman Osborn plot… The thing that makes [Your] Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man work so well is that the characters really simmer for a very long time when they start to pay off, and some of the payoffs just start hitting really heavy in season 2, and it’s extremely satisfying.”
The animated series has taken a different direction from its initial concept. Originally, the show was meant to depict the origin story of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Marvel later opted to place the series within the broader MCU multiverse, allowing it to explore its own interpretation of Peter Parker’s narrative.

Season 2 is expected to introduce several significant characters and plotlines, including the arrival of Venom. The series will also feature Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Gwen, marking the first time Marvel Studios has incorporated this popular character into one of its projects.
Marvel is already looking ahead to the future beyond the second season. According to previous announcements, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ season 3 is currently in development. While story details remain under wraps, Marvel reportedly aims to release the third season approximately one year after the premiere of season 2.
Spider-Man enthusiasts have much to anticipate beyond animation as well. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is set to return to theaters when ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ premieres on July 31. Additionally, Sony has recently expanded its live-action Spider-Man television universe with ‘Spider-Noir’, starring Nicolas Cage, which debuted on Prime Video on May 25.
