Marvel Teases The Hero Who Can Stop Doctor Doom in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Marvel is offering fans an exciting glimpse into what to expect from ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ with a new collection of collectibles. In collaboration with Hasbro, the company has unveiled the Marvel Legends Series figures inspired by the upcoming film, which may provide hints about the heroes and villains set to appear.
The collection was revealed towards the end of San Diego Comic-Con, with PEOPLE showcasing an exclusive first look at the figures. This set features characters from across the Marvel Universe, uniting members of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and some of the most formidable villains tied to the narrative.
Each figure stands approximately six inches tall and boasts a premium design with multiple points of articulation. Beyond being collectibles, these figures also showcase new costumes that align with the versions of the characters expected to appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
One of the standout figures is Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming film. His presence emphasizes Marvel’s focus on Doom as a pivotal character leading into the next Avengers installment.
The collection also introduces fans to Sam Wilson’s Captain America. Following the events of ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ Anthony Mackie’s hero returns with his own figure, complete with Captain America’s iconic shield and backpack.
Thor joins the lineup with a figure that includes both of his signature weapons, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. Shang-Chi is another key addition, and his figure comes with several accessories, including alternate hands and effects that represent his powerful Ten Rings abilities.
According to Hasbro and Marvel’s official announcement, Shang-Chi “may be the only hero powerful enough to stop the threat the Avengers face.” This detail has already ignited fan theories regarding the character’s potential role when the heroes confront Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four are prominently featured in the collection as well. Invisible Woman and Human Torch are packaged together, complete with accessories that showcase their powers, including a force shield for Sue Storm and flame effects for Johnny Storm.
Mister Fantastic appears alongside H.E.R.B.I.E., the beloved robot companion from the Fantastic Four comics. His figure includes various hand options and an alternate head, while The Thing is sold separately with additional accessories, including a bearded version of the character.
The X-Men side of the collection brings back some familiar faces. Cyclops, Gambit, Magneto, and Doctor Doom complete the final wave of figures. Cyclops includes an alternate visor and an optic blast accessory, while Gambit comes with his signature bo staff and charged playing card effects.
Magneto and Doctor Doom each receive their own figures with alternate hands, highlighting their significance as powerful characters in the upcoming movie.
This collection provides fans with another opportunity to explore the potential costumes and designs Marvel has crafted for ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ While the toys do not disclose the entire storyline, they serve as a valuable source of clues for fans eager to predict what will unfold when these superhero teams unite.
The Marvel Legends Series figures will be available exclusively at Walmart this fall, with many available for preorder starting July 27.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ hits theaters on December 18.
