MCU’s ‘VisionQuest’ Cast Revealed with 3 Returning Stars and 11 New Additions
Marvel is preparing to conclude one of its most interconnected TV narratives with the upcoming Disney+ series VisionQuest, set to premiere on October 14. This series is anticipated to act as the final chapter in a loose trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.
According to footage from Disney Upfronts and reporting by TheWrap, the storyline will center on Vision as he attempts to regain his memories while grappling with a peculiar disconnect, recalling his past without truly feeling as if he experienced it. This emotional void propels him on a quest for identity and humanity.
The series is strategically timed with the broader MCU narrative, concluding just before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters. While Marvel has kept most plot details under wraps, casting announcements have begun to reveal the scale of the project.
Paul Bettany is back as Vision, continuing his long-standing role in the MCU. He was last seen in WandaVision before the series concluded. Discussing VisionQuest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany remarked, “It manages to feel very much like it’s somehow a part of that world, an end to a trilogy of sorts, whilst also being very much its own thing, and it is just really good. I’m really proud of it.”
James Spader is also confirmed to reprise his role as Ultron from Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron’s return is particularly significant, given that he was previously destroyed by the Avengers.
Faran Tahir will return as Raza from Iron Man (2008), where he led the Ten Rings faction introduced in Tony Stark’s original story.
A host of new actors are joining the MCU through VisionQuest. Emily Hampshire will portray E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-created AI system first introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was left behind by Tony Stark for Peter Parker. This system manages satellite networks and advanced weaponry.
T’Nia Miller takes on a significant role as Jocasta, a character characterized as powerful and intelligent, driven by revenge. In Marvel Comics, Jocasta is a robot created by Ultron who ultimately turns against him.
Ruaridh Mollica joins the cast as Thomas Shepherd, a character closely tied to Vision’s family narrative. Many fans speculate he may be related to Tommy Maximoff, one of Vision and Wanda’s twin sons. His storyline may also connect to Billy Maximoff, known as Wiccan, who was introduced in Agatha All Along. This casting further ties into the ongoing Maximoff family saga within the MCU.
Todd Stashwick will portray an assassin targeting androids and advanced technology, expected to play a crucial role in the conflict surrounding Vision’s existence and the overarching artificial intelligence storyline.
Jonathan Sayer and Henry Lewis are also joining the series in unique roles. Sayer will play a character named U, while Lewis will portray DUM-E, the small robotic assistant originally seen in Tony Stark’s workshop. Lewis shared the news on Instagram, stating, “So thrilled to share the news that @jonathan_sayer1 and I are playing DUM-E and U in the upcoming @marvel TV series #visionquest – we’ve both had such an incredible experience working on the show and can’t wait for you to see it!”
Orla Brady will join as F.R.I.D.A.Y., another Stark-created AI system that has appeared in multiple MCU films as Tony Stark’s assistant, originally voiced by Kerry Condon.
Diane Morgan will appear in a supporting role as an associate of Paladin, adding another dimension to the expanding network of human characters linked to the technological conflict in the story.
Lauren Morais will portray Lisa Molinari, a character closely associated with Thomas Shepherd. Morais has previously appeared in Mudtown, The Red King, and The Crow Girl, but VisionQuest marks her most significant role to date.
Mary McDonnell has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role, with Marvel keeping details about her character under wraps.
Cristian Lavin will join the series as a character known as Merc. His role has not been fully disclosed, but he is expected to be involved in the show’s darker narrative surrounding androids and assassination plots.
There are also several rumored returns of major MCU characters. Tom Hiddleston is reportedly expected to reprise his role as Loki, although Marvel has not confirmed his involvement. Elizabeth Olsen is also rumored to return as Wanda Maximoff, following her last appearance in WandaVision. Her potential return would directly link Vision’s narrative back to the emotional core of the original series.
With returning MCU characters, significant AI figures, and new additions tied to the Maximoff storyline, VisionQuest is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most crowded and pivotal Disney+ projects to date.
