Michael Bay and Sydney Sweeney Are Teaming Up for ‘OutRun’ Adaptation
SEGA first launched the OutRun game in 1986 and it soon became known for its pioneering hardware and graphics. On top of that, the narrative and the soundtrack were also praised, so OutRun quickly became a hit among games.
As you know, SEGA’s been a solid presence in the field of video game adaptations, and in an era when video game adaptations are becoming more and more popular, we shouldn’t really be surprised by the news we have for you.
Namely, it has been confirmed that a live-action adaptation of the OutRun game is currently in the works, and some interesting personalities are involved.
The movie is coming to us from Universal, which would like a piece of the cake after the successes of the Super Mario and Sonic animated movies, as well as the live-action adaptations A Minecraft Movie and The Last of Us.
And while the whole project is still in very early phases of development, Universal is looking forward to bringing the OutRun video game to the big screen, as sources have confirmed.
Jayson Rothwell is writing the script, and Michael Bay is currently attached to direct and co-produce the film. Sydney Sweeney will also co-produce the film, but that will be the limit of her involvement in the project, as the sources claim.
Other producing names have been listed as well, but that is about it. No cast names have been put forward and we don’t know anything about the plot of the upcoming movie, or its potential release date.
We just know that it is in the making.
Of course, we will be bringing you all the updates as soon as they are out, so be sure to keep following us for more!
