Man of Tomorrow is an upcoming DC Studios superhero film written and directed by James Gunn. The story revolves around Superman and Lex Luthor, who must join forces when a larger threat emerges. David Corenswet stars as Superman, while Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor. The cast also features Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
The film will introduce significant DC characters, including Brainiac, portrayed by Lars Eidinger, who serves as the main antagonist. Aaron Pierre joins the cast as John Stewart, another Green Lantern. According to DC Studios, the narrative focuses on the uneasy alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor as they confront a threat neither can tackle alone.
This project is part of James Gunn’s broader DC Universe vision under Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Gunn first announced his involvement with the film in 2025, just before the release of Superman. More casting updates followed later that year, with production officially commencing in April at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, along with filming in the UK and Cincinnati.

In the film, Gathegi’s Mister Terrific is characterized as a brilliant inventor who employs advanced technology in his crime-fighting efforts. Hoover’s Cat Grant is expected to bring her strong media presence from the Daily Planet into the narrative, maintaining her role as one of Metropolis’s leading journalists.
This new behind-the-scenes look has only heightened anticipation for the film, which is set to premiere in theaters on July 9, 2027. According to DC Studios, filming will continue through mid-2026 as the cast navigates a large-scale production that unites multiple heroes and villains from the DC Universe.
