Fans of ‘Austin Powers’ have received an exciting update regarding a potential fourth installment, as Mike Myers expressed his willingness to reprise his iconic role as the beloved spy character.

During a recent appearance on comedian Trevor Noah’s FIFA World Cup livestream watch party on June 16, Myers was directly asked if audiences could expect to see ‘Austin Powers 4’. His response was succinct and instantly drew attention.

“Yes,” Myers replied when Noah inquired about the possibility of another film in the franchise.

Noah was taken aback by the quick response, exclaiming, “Wow. That was a quick yes.”

Myers appeared on the livestream alongside his 14-year-old son, Spike. The question about ‘Austin Powers’ sparked a lively discussion, quickly becoming one of the highlights of the stream.

Myers is well-known for creating one of his most memorable characters, Austin Powers, a British spy who parodies classic 1960s secret agent films. The character first debuted in 1997’s ‘Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery’, followed by ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’ in 1999 and ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’ in 2002.

These films gained popularity due to their unique humor, exaggerated characters, and Myers’ talent for playing multiple roles. In addition to Austin Powers, he also portrayed the infamous villain Dr. Evil, who has become a staple of the franchise.

The third film, ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’, featured an impressive cast that included Beyoncé, Michael Caine, Seth Green, and Verne Troyer, along with surprise cameos from stars like Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Britney Spears.

While a fourth installment has yet to officially enter production, Myers has been vocal about the idea for years. He has mentioned discussions about continuing the story and hinted that a potential fourth film could focus more on Dr. Evil.

In a 2005 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Myers mentioned he was brainstorming ideas with the studio behind the franchise. Later, in a 2007 interview with IGN, he revealed that a concept for another film was already in place.

More recently, Myers has shown continued interest in returning to the role. During a 2022 interview with SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle, he humorously responded to questions about ‘Austin Powers 4’, stating, “I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project, should it exist or not exist.” He also expressed his enthusiasm for making another movie.

In 2024, during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Myers was asked if the ‘Austin Powers’ series still had more stories to tell. His response was clear: “Absolutely.”

While fans speculate that Myers’ son Spike could potentially appear as a younger version of Austin Powers or as his son, Spike humorously noted during the livestream that acting is not currently his focus. He mentioned that he had not seriously pursued acting and joked, “I actually almost failed my theater class recently.”

Currently, there are no official details regarding the story, cast, or production plans for ‘Austin Powers 4’. However, Myers’ recent comments provide fans with hope that the long-awaited sequel may finally be on the horizon.

Before reprising his role as Austin Powers, Myers is set to return as Shrek in ‘Shrek 5’, which is scheduled for release in theaters in June 2027.
