A new featurette for Supergirl has been unveiled, showcasing stars Milly Alcock and Eve Ridley discussing the significance of experiencing films on the big screen.

In the featurette, both actors underscore the notion that cinema is meant to be enjoyed in theaters. Alcock and Ridley stress the communal experience shared between audiences, filmmakers, and everyone involved in the movie-making process. One notable line from the promotional material states, “Your local screen was built for heroes. For the heroes on-screen taking you out of this world. For the heroes behind the scenes whose craft and artistry make it all happen. And for the heroes in the seats who are ready for adventure to take flight.”

The message continues to urge audiences to watch the film in cinemas first, portraying it as an epic adventure crafted for the largest screen possible. This promotional effort is part of the broader marketing strategy for Supergirl, which is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, the film is the second entry in the new DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. Milly Alcock stars as Kara Zor-El / Supergirl, joined by Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa.

According to official plot details from DC Studios, the narrative follows Kara Zor-El on her 23rd birthday as she embarks on a journey across the galaxy. Accompanied by her dog Krypto, she encounters a young girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, whose tragic circumstances lead Supergirl down a path of vengeance.

The film draws inspiration from the comic storyline Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which significantly influences the adaptation’s tone and direction. This version of Supergirl presents a more hardened and emotionally nuanced portrayal of Kara compared to previous iterations.

Filming took place in the United Kingdom, including Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and various locations in London and Scotland, from January to May 2025. The project was officially announced in 2023 as part of a comprehensive reset of DC’s film universe under new creative leadership.

The cast also features David Corenswet as Superman, Kara’s cousin, and Jason Momoa as Lobo, a space mercenary and bounty hunter. Their roles connect the film to the broader DC Universe narrative being developed across multiple upcoming projects.

With its emphasis on grand space adventures, emotional storytelling, and a theatrical-first approach, Supergirl is positioned as a pivotal entry in DC Studios’ new “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” slate.
