NBC’s ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ Premiere Date Announced for September 2026

NBC is introducing an exciting new twist to one of its most popular reality competition shows. The network has officially revealed the premiere date for ‘The Traitors: New Blood’, which marks the fifth season of the hit series, and this time, the game is set to look quite different.

According to NBC, ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ will debut on September 17, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET with a special two-hour opening episode. Following the premiere, new episodes will air every Thursday night at the same time on NBC, and viewers can also stream episodes the next day on Peacock.

One of the most significant changes for this season is the cast. Unlike previous seasons that featured well-known reality TV personalities, ‘New Blood’ will spotlight everyday individuals. NBC has announced that this season will include 22 civilian contestants chosen from a massive casting call that attracted around 60,000 applicants.

This shift marks a new direction for the franchise, allowing regular viewers to compete in the intense social strategy game. Earlier seasons featured reality stars and celebrities as they navigated challenges, formed alliances, and attempted to uncover who among them was secretly a Traitor.

The premise of ‘The Traitors’ is straightforward yet intense. A select group of players is secretly designated as the “Traitors,” while the rest become “Faithful.” The Traitors must collaborate to eliminate contestants without being discovered, while the Faithful aim to identify and vote out the hidden adversaries before the game concludes.

The series is inspired by the Dutch reality show ‘De Verraders’ and is set in the historic Ardross Castle in Scotland. Contestants engage in missions to build a prize fund while navigating a landscape filled with deception, friendships, and betrayals.

Alan Cumming will return as the host for ‘The Traitors: New Blood’. The Scottish actor has become an iconic part of the series, infusing his dramatic flair and humor into the competition.

Since its debut, ‘The Traitors’ has achieved significant success for NBC and Peacock. The first season premiered on Peacock in January 2023 and quickly garnered a large fan base. The show was renewed for additional seasons, leading to the expansion of the franchise with a fifth season and more to come.

Season 3 was particularly successful, earning five Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Reality Competition Program and an award for Cumming’s hosting performance. The season also received accolades for its directing, cinematography, and editing.

The upcoming civilian season promises to offer fans a fresh take on the competition while maintaining the same elements of mystery, teamwork, and deception. With thousands of hopefuls vying for a spot in the cast, ‘New Blood’ could introduce a completely different dynamic to the series.

NBC has also laid plans for the future of the franchise. The network has renewed ‘The Traitors’ beyond the fifth season, with another celebrity-focused season anticipated to follow.

For now, all eyes are on ‘The Traitors: New Blood’ as a new group of players prepares to enter the castle and attempt to outsmart one another. With fresh contestants, new strategies, and Alan Cumming returning as host, the next chapter of this reality sensation is set to unfold.
