Netflix has officially canceled its adult animated comedy Strip Law after just one season. The announcement was made by Crawford in a post on Bluesky, where he candidly discussed the show’s conclusion and expressed gratitude to both the team and the viewers who supported it.

Strip Law was set in Las Vegas and offered a unique animated courtroom comedy experience filled with fast-paced, chaotic humor. Created by Crawford, it aimed to deliver a high-energy twist on the legal procedural genre, blending absurd cases with rapid-fire jokes. Early promotional materials, including a trailer and first-look images released by Netflix, introduced the main voice cast, which featured Joel McHale and Ikechukwu Ufomadu among others.

Despite its innovative approach, the series struggled to attract a broad audience on the platform. It failed to make an appearance in Netflix’s daily or weekly top 10 charts, and its trailer garnered just over 100,000 views. Some early reviews acknowledged the show’s clear creative vision but also highlighted its uneven comedic execution. One review characterized it as a “wild Vegas animated courtroom comedy” that had difficulty avoiding “bad jokes,” reflecting its mixed reception.

Crawford addressed the cancellation directly in his Bluesky post, stating, “so they told me theres not going to be anymore strip law at Netflix i really cant be anything but grateful. at every phase it was made by talented people in pursuit of nothing but pure chaotic delirious joy and im so so proud of it thank you to everyone who gave it chance.”

Although the series will not continue, Crawford shared a final detail about where the story was headed. He revealed a significant plot point that would have been part of the planned conclusion, writing, “I thought it was funny also theres a whole lot of shit we were gonna do but ill give yall one little huge secret since bluesky has been auch a fuckin champion for this show eventually in the series finale you’d’ve learned that this guy from the credits…turns out to be Lincoln the cards are from Sheila in the pilot.”

The cancellation of Strip Law adds to a growing list of adult animated series that have ended after just one season on Netflix. Over recent years, several similar shows have failed to secure long-term renewals, including Q-Force, Farzar, Agent Elvis, Chicago Party Aunt, Mulligan, and Twilight of the Gods. Many of these series also struggled to build large audiences despite having strong creative teams behind them.

Industry experts often note that Netflix’s animation slate is highly competitive, with numerous new shows released each year vying for viewer attention. In such an environment, even programs with distinct styles and dedicated creative visions can find it challenging to survive beyond their first season.

For Strip Law, the end came swiftly, but its creator emphasized that the project was crafted with enthusiasm and creative freedom. While the series will not continue, Crawford’s remarks suggest that the team cherished the experience and the audience that connected with the show during its brief run.
