Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of Dan Brown’s ‘The Secret of Secrets’ is progressing towards casting its new Robert Langdon. This latest installment in the Robert Langdon series follows the Harvard symbologist as he embarks on a quest to find his missing partner, scientist Katherine Solomon, while uncovering a perilous secret hidden within her groundbreaking research.

The narrative intricately weaves history, science, puzzles, and conspiracy as Langdon races against formidable forces intent on controlling a discovery that could revolutionize humanity’s understanding of the mind.

As reported by Deadline, Morgan Spector, known for his role in ‘The Gilded Age,’ is in discussions to portray the iconic Harvard symbologist, stepping into a role that Tom Hanks famously embodied in previous film adaptations.

Rebecca Hall is also reportedly in negotiations to take on the female lead opposite Spector, portraying Katherine Solomon, whose mysterious disappearance propels Langdon into a thrilling adventure filled with secrets that could alter humanity’s comprehension of the mind.

This new series represents a significant shift for the Robert Langdon franchise, which has largely been associated with Hanks. The actor portrayed Langdon in three successful films: ‘The Da Vinci Code,’ ‘Angels & Demons,’ and ‘Inferno,’ all directed by Ron Howard, collectively grossing over $2 billion worldwide and establishing Langdon as a prominent figure in modern mystery entertainment.

The Netflix series will draw from Brown’s latest novel, ‘The Secret of Secrets,’ which continues Langdon’s saga. In this story, Langdon finds himself in a race against time following the disappearance of his girlfriend, Katherine Solomon, whose research manuscript becomes central to a dangerous mystery involving powerful adversaries.

Should the negotiations finalize, the series would mark the first time real-life couple Morgan Spector and Rebecca Hall appear together on screen in a television project. The pair have previously collaborated on stage and in films, including the Broadway revival of ‘Machinal’ and the movies ‘Christine’ and ‘Permission.’

Spector’s potential involvement does not imply he would abandon his role on HBO’s ‘The Gilded Age.’ Reports suggest that he could continue portraying railroad businessman George Russell if the show is renewed for another season, with production schedules accommodating both projects.

The Netflix adaptation is a collaboration between Dan Brown and Carlton Cuse, who are jointly developing the series. Cuse will take on the roles of writer and showrunner, while Emma Forman from Cuse’s Genre Arts will also serve as an executive producer. Netflix greenlit the project straight to series in 2025.

Production is anticipated to commence this fall in Prague, where a significant portion of the story unfolds.

This isn’t the first collaboration between Netflix and Spector, as he recently featured in the streamer’s limited series ‘Black Rabbit.’ Hall is also coming off a role in Ryan Murphy’s FX series ‘The Beauty.’

With Spector potentially stepping into one of Dan Brown’s most renowned roles, Netflix seems poised to usher in a new chapter for Robert Langdon on television. The series will need to capture the hearts of fans familiar with Hanks’ portrayal, but this adaptation could provide a refreshing perspective on the character and his world of hidden clues, history, and intrigue.
