New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Promo Art Showcases Doctor Doom, Fantastic Four, X-Men & Black Panther
A newly unveiled promotional artwork for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ offers Marvel enthusiasts an exciting glimpse of what could become one of the most significant superhero films ever. The artwork prominently features key Marvel teams and characters, including Doctor Doom, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and Black Panther, all tied to the film’s multiverse narrative.
This image has quickly garnered attention from fans as it unites heroes and villains from various corners of Marvel’s expansive universe. Although Marvel Studios has kept many story details under wraps, the promo art seems to spotlight the major players set to engage in the conflict against Doctor Doom.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will center around a colossal conflict that draws heroes from multiple universes. The Avengers from Earth-616, Wakandan forces, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four from Earth-828, and the original X-Men from another universe will all converge in this epic battle.
At the heart of the story is Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. The casting announcement took fans by surprise when it was revealed in 2024. After over a decade of playing Tony Stark and Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Downey is now stepping into a completely different role within the franchise.
The upcoming film has had a long and unique path to the big screen. In 2022, Marvel announced two Avengers movies titled ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ These films were intended to wrap up Phase Six of the MCU and conclude what Marvel referred to as “The Multiverse Saga.”
At that time, Jonathan Majors was expected to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror, the franchise’s primary antagonist. However, plans shifted over the following year. Reports from Marvel and industry insiders indicated that director Destin Daniel Cretton departed the project in late 2023, with writer Michael Waldron taking over from Jeff Loveness. Around the same period, Marvel began exploring alternative directions for the storyline. Following Majors’ legal troubles and his exit from the franchise, the studio opted to move away from Kang as the central villain.
A significant announcement came in July 2024 when Marvel confirmed that Anthony and Joe Russo would return to direct the next Avengers films. The studio also revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would take on the role of Doctor Doom and that the movie’s new title would be ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
One of the most discussed aspects of the film is its extensive cast. The project will showcase actors from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films alongside performers from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. The multiverse concept allows characters from different realities and timelines to finally share the screen.
Filming took place between April and September 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional scenes shot on location in England and Bahrain.
According to Marvel Studios, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18. The story will continue one year later with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ currently scheduled for release on December 17, 2027. With Doctor Doom at the helm of the threat and heroes from various universes uniting, the film is already shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious projects to date.
