Few films in Marvel’s history carry the emotional weight of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ the three-hour conclusion to more than a decade of interconnected storytelling that shattered box office records upon its 2019 release. Seven years later, the film’s legacy remains central to how Marvel Studios approaches its biggest theatrical events.

That legacy is about to shine again. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on the horizon as one of Marvel’s most ambitious crossovers, set to hit theaters December 18, the studio has been building anticipation through a unique marketing strategy: bringing ‘Endgame’ back to the big screen first.

A striking new poster has been unveiled for the re-release, titled ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ confirming the film’s return to theaters on September 25. Illustrated by artist SG_Posters, the artwork features the film’s core lineup, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the rest of the surviving team, depicted in a bold red-and-black style that highlights their status as the founding heroes of the entire Infinity Saga.

The poster is accompanied by the tagline “Whatever it takes,” a direct nod to one of the film’s most memorable lines, inviting fans to “reassemble the team in theaters” when the re-release opens later this month. This framing positions the Encore screening as more than just a nostalgia trip, linking the film’s emotional history directly to the buildup for what lies ahead in the MCU.

What sets this re-release apart from a standard theatrical rerun is the inclusion of additional material connected to ‘Doomsday’ itself, though access to that footage depends on where fans choose to watch. The new content, featuring a custom introduction and a special end tag, is exclusive to IMAX and Infinity Vision-certified screens, Marvel’s newly introduced Premium Large Format standard designed to compete with other premium theatrical experiences.

This distinction has resulted in two separate runtimes for the release. Standard screenings will run three hours, three minutes, and three seconds, while IMAX and Infinity Vision presentations extend slightly longer at three hours, six minutes, and fourteen seconds, reflecting the additional footage exclusive to those formats.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo have emphasized that watching the Encore presentation isn’t merely a bonus for fans, describing a significant connection between the events of ‘Endgame’ and what’s coming in ‘Doomsday’ that only becomes clear through the new footage included in premium format screenings. This framing suggests Marvel is treating this re-release as more than just a victory lap, but as a genuine piece of setup for its next major crossover event.

The timing is intentional, aligning with ‘Doomsday’s’ approach, landing roughly twelve weeks before the December release and providing Marvel another opportunity to remind audiences of the emotional stakes established throughout the Infinity Saga. With Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and the rest of the original ensemble returning to screens one last time, the Encore release serves as both a celebration of the franchise’s biggest achievement to date and a strategic lead-in to its next chapter.

Tickets for the September 25 release are already on sale, with participating theaters, formats, and showtimes varying by market depending on which premium options are available locally. Given how effectively Marvel has embraced nostalgia throughout this campaign, alongside the promise of genuinely new content tied to ‘Doomsday,’ the re-release is set to attract significant turnout from longtime fans eager for one more journey through the story that redefined blockbuster filmmaking.
