New Harry Potter TV Show Moves Filming From King’s Cross Station To Waterloo Station
Filming for the new ‘Harry Potter’ (HBO series) has relocated to a different spot in London, with scenes now being filmed at Waterloo Station instead of the iconic King’s Cross Station.
As reported by The Daily Mail, filming at Waterloo occurred on Sunday as the production continues its adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved novels. The series commenced filming earlier this year and is anticipated to air next year.
This adaptation features a fresh young cast. Dominic McLaughlin, 11, takes on the role of Harry Potter, while Arabella Stanton, 11, portrays Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout, 11, plays Ron Weasley.
In the original film series, released from 2001 to 2011, King’s Cross Station served as the primary London location for the Hogwarts Express. The iconic Platform 9¾ scenes were also associated with that station, making it one of the franchise’s most recognizable sites.
The new TV adaptation is altering that familiar setup. Crews have been capturing scenes at Waterloo Station, which are expected to depict the students’ journey to Hogwarts for the upcoming school year.
Filming for the show began in May and has already taken the cast and crew to various locations, including Île de Sein off the coast of Brittany, France. The production is now progressing through significant scenes as the narrative unfolds.
Among the background elements spotted during filming is a red double-decker bus with the destination sign “Crouch End.” This detail was noted during the shoot at Waterloo, as reported by The Daily Mail. Extras were also seen on set during these scenes.
The franchise is expanding beyond the original films. The Daily Mail reports that the production team is also utilizing a steam locomotive, the Wightwick Hall, which will represent the Hogwarts Express. This engine is set to be used for filming over multiple years as part of the series.
Additionally, there are changes to fan events associated with the franchise. In previous years, fans gathered at King’s Cross Station on September 1 for the “Back to Hogwarts” tradition. However, this public event has now been canceled, according to a statement from Wizarding World and Warner Bros Discovery.
The production is ongoing, and more filming locations are anticipated as the series continues its development toward the planned release next year.
