A sequel to the popular 2023 horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s is coming soon. Titled Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the movie will pick up where the first left off. Emma Tammi is directing again, and Scott Cawthon, the creator of the original game, wrote the script.

The cast includes returning stars Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa, Piper Rubio as Abby, and Matthew Lillard as William Afton. New actors joining the project are Skeet Ulrich, Wayne Knight, Mckenna Grace, and Teo Briones. Sources suggest Ulrich will play Henry Emily, a major character from the game series, but some roles remain a secret.

The idea for a second film started in 2018 when Cawthon said a sequel would depend on the first movie’s success. After the 2023 film did well, Blumhouse Productions confirmed the sequel in April 2024. Josh Hutcherson shared early hints about the project earlier that year.

Filming began in November 2024 and wrapped up in February 2025. Matthew Lillard, who signed on for three films, confirmed production started late in 2024. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop is back to design the eerie animatronics that fans loved in the first movie.

The film will hit theaters in the United States on December 5, 2025, distributed by Universal Pictures. Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently shared that the movie will feature a unique scene with Vanessa and Charlotte celebrating a birthday inside the pizzeria. The set includes an indoor water ride with boats, hinting at bold new elements for the sequel.

With familiar faces, new actors, and surprising additions like the water ride, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 aims to deliver chills and excitement. Fans are eager to see if it matches the first film’s success.

I think Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has big shoes to fill after the first film’s success. The new cast and creative additions like the water ride sound promising, but I hope the movie stays true to the game’s creepy vibe. What do you think about the sequel? Are you excited for the new elements, or do you want more of the original’s style? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
