‘The Batman: Part II’ has officially commenced filming, and the initial leaked set photos and videos are providing fans with a sneak peek at Matt Reeves’ upcoming Gotham narrative. Production is currently taking place in Liverpool, England, which is once again serving as Gotham City for the sequel.

Videos shared online by onlookers near the set showcase production crews preparing for action scenes, moving camera equipment, and setting up police vehicles adorned with Gotham City Police Department markings. Fans have also spotted a new red bat logo attached to production gear and vehicles, hinting at an updated symbol for the sequel. The darker logo design quickly garnered attention online as filming commenced.

One of the leaked clips features a damaged GCPD car. Another video showcases Robert Pattinson’s stunt double, Rick English, standing atop a moving police car while filming an action sequence inside the Birkenhead Tunnel. This footage suggests that the sequel will maintain the grounded and realistic style established in the first film.

Filming was initially expected to begin earlier but was delayed as Matt Reeves continued refining the script with co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The screenplay was finalized in June 2025, allowing production to finally kick off this summer.

Robert Pattinson reprises his role as Bruce Wayne and Batman, joined by several familiar faces. Jeffrey Wright returns as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis is back as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell will once again portray Penguin following the success of ‘The Penguin’ series. Barry Keoghan is also anticipated to return as Joker after his brief appearance in the first film.

The sequel is expanding its cast with significant new additions. Sebastian Stan has been cast as Harvey Dent, while Scarlett Johansson will portray Gilda Dent. Charles Dance is also set to play Charles Dent. Other actors joining the project include Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry, though their roles remain undisclosed.

The storyline is expected to delve deeper into Bruce Wayne’s character while continuing to examine the corruption and violence that has spread throughout Gotham following the events of ‘The Batman’ and ‘The Penguin’. The movie aims to retain the gritty tone that resonated with fans in the first installment.

‘The Batman: Part II’ is set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. With filming officially underway and the first set leaks already surfacing, anticipation for Matt Reeves’ next chapter is rapidly increasing.
