New ‘The Batman: Part II’ Rumor Suggests Sebastian Stan is NOT Playing Harvey Dent
New casting rumors are emerging regarding Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated film The Batman: Part II. While the movie is set to hit theaters in October 2027, speculation about its characters is ramping up quickly.
This sequel follows the events of 2022’s The Batman, where Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne confronted Paul Dano’s Riddler and met a younger version of the Penguin, portrayed by Colin Farrell. Farrell has recently mentioned his return for the sequel, noting that his role will be significantly smaller this time, with only about two scenes. This has sparked discussions about which new villains might take the spotlight in the upcoming story.
One of the most significant early rumors centered on Sebastian Stan. Initial reports indicated that Stan might be cast as Harvey Dent, the Gotham City district attorney who eventually transforms into the villain Two-Face. This speculation gained traction online due to Dent’s status as one of Batman’s most iconic adversaries, previously portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart in earlier adaptations.
However, recent updates have complicated this assumption. According to Jeff Sneider’s latest report, Stan may actually be taking on a different role altogether. Instead of Harvey Dent, he is now rumored to portray Victor Zsasz, a notorious serial killer from the Batman universe. Meanwhile, the report suggests that Brian Tyree Henry could be the one to play Harvey Dent, who would still eventually evolve into Two-Face.
These claims remain unconfirmed by Warner Bros. or the filmmakers, and should be regarded as speculation for the time being. Nevertheless, the evolving rumors have already ignited discussions among fans, particularly those who anticipated Stan’s involvement in the Two-Face storyline.

Victor Zsasz is a particularly sinister character within Batman lore. According to descriptions from DC’s character database, he is a psychopathic killer who marks his body with tally marks for each victim. If these rumors hold true, his inclusion would indicate a darker and more grounded tone for the sequel, which aligns with earlier comments made by Colin Farrell. In a recent interview, Farrell described the script as “a really kind of dark and at times terrifying piece.”
The first film already leaned heavily into crime thriller territory, focusing less on traditional superhero action and more on detective work, corruption, and psychological tension. The Riddler served as the main antagonist, while the Penguin played a notable supporting role in Gotham’s criminal underworld. With Farrell indicating a reduced presence, it seems likely that the sequel will introduce new figures to fill the power vacuum left behind.
This has led many to believe that Harvey Dent will still play a significant role in the narrative, regardless of who is cast, but Sneider mentioned that Brian Tyree Henry is in contention for the role. Dent’s transformation into Two-Face is a pivotal arc in Batman mythology, and it would fit seamlessly into the grounded world Reeves has established thus far.
At this point, however, none of the casting reports have been officially confirmed. The studio has remained tight-lipped on character details, and much of the current discussion is based on insider claims and entertainment reporting rather than formal announcements.
Even so, anticipation for The Batman: Part II continues to rise as more details gradually emerge. With filming still on the horizon and the release date more than a year away, the film remains one of the most closely monitored upcoming superhero projects, and any casting change or rumor is likely to keep generating buzz until official confirmations are made.
