The first trailer for Lockbox has been unveiled, offering an initial glimpse at this chilling horror film featuring Carla Gugino and Lou Taylor Pucci, directed by Daniel Stamm, known for The Last Exorcism.

As detailed by the film’s production team and promotional materials, Lockbox tells the story of Ellen, a woman who relocates to a serene rural town following her mother’s death. She seeks solace and stability, but her life takes a turn when she takes in her cousin Winthrop, who is grappling with trauma and unsettling behavior.

Initially, their new life together appears delicate yet manageable. However, the situation deteriorates when a neighbor warns Ellen about Winthrop’s potential danger. Soon, they are engulfed in a series of unexplained and increasingly terrifying occurrences. Ellen finds herself in a position where she must safeguard Winthrop, even as doubts about the reality of their circumstances begin to creep in.

The narrative escalates into a battle against what seems to be a supernatural force targeting Winthrop. Ellen becomes the sole protector between him and an incomprehensible threat.

Directed by Daniel Stamm, the screenplay is crafted by Emmy-winning playwright Justin Yoffe and is inspired by the Knifepoint Horror podcast, specifically the episode titled The Lockbox by creator Soren Narnia. This adaptation translates the podcast’s tense and minimalistic storytelling into a feature-length horror experience.

Carla Gugino, recognized for Gerald’s Game, stars as Ellen, while Lou Taylor Pucci, known for Evil Dead, portrays Winthrop. The supporting cast features Donald Sales, Jason William Day, Jason McKinnon, Roman Kinsella, Aedan Edwards, Darcey Johnson, Lee Tichon, Jecca Beauchamp, and Kenny Wood-Schatz.

Produced by Kearie Peak of Peak Pictures in collaboration with Capstone Studios, AURA Entertainment is managing the film’s theatrical release in the United States. This project is part of a rising trend of adapting popular horror podcasts into feature films, broadening their narratives for cinema audiences.

Production notes also indicate that Lockbox is part of a larger wave of Knifepoint Horror adaptations, with another project titled Fiona already in the works. This witch-themed horror film, starring Maggie Grace and directed by Nicholas McCarthy, will also see a theatrical release in the U.S. by AURA Entertainment before transitioning to streaming.

Lockbox is anticipated to resonate with fans of psychological and supernatural horror, particularly those familiar with the podcast that inspired it. The trailer showcases a tense, atmospheric style that emphasizes fear, isolation, and uncertainty as the central characters navigate increasingly perilous situations.
