Nikki from ‘Obsession’ Confirmed Roaming Halloween Horror Nights and Fans Spot Her
Halloween Horror Nights has earned its reputation for transforming beloved horror properties into immersive haunted houses. However, this year’s standout addition isn’t confined to a maze. Universal Studios Hollywood has opted to unleash one of 2026’s breakout horror characters onto the streets, effectively turning the entire theme park into her hunting ground.
That character is Nikki, the tragic and chilling focal point of ‘Obsession,’ the psychological horror film that has emerged as one of the year’s biggest surprise hits. Instead of limiting her to a single attraction, Universal chose a format that reflects her unsettling and unpredictable nature within the film.
Fans are now catching their first glimpses of this decision in action, with a video showcasing Nikki as a roaming character stalking the streets of Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood. With blood streaked across her face and dressed in the same tattered black dress from the film’s haunting conclusion, the clip has quickly circulated among horror enthusiasts eager to see how the character translates from screen to scare zone.
During a panel at MidsummerScream in early August, Halloween Horror Nights creative director John Murdy explained the rationale behind Nikki’s roaming format. He described the experience as akin to a real-life scavenger hunt rather than a traditional walkthrough attraction. Murdy compared the search for Nikki to needing a “Where’s Waldo?” mentality, as she could appear anywhere in the park on any given night.
Instead of being confined to one location, Nikki wanders the park each event night, similar to the approach Universal took with Art the Clown during last year’s ‘Terrifier’ collaboration. Guests are encouraged to check the Halloween Horror Nights Instagram Stories for a nightly secret phrase. Those fortunate enough to find Nikki and recite the phrase may receive a collectible reward, although Murdy noted that only a limited number will be available.
Universal made a deliberate choice regarding which version of Nikki to bring to life, selecting her appearance from the film’s climax. In ‘Obsession,’ Nikki’s friend uses a supernatural artifact called the One Wish Willow to force her into an obsessive, uncontrollable love for him. The character’s final form, drenched in blood and wearing her friend’s stolen dress, is the exact look Universal chose to recreate for the attraction.

Nikki’s inclusion has sparked some controversy among fans. Since her transformation in the film is not a choice she makes, some viewers have expressed discomfort about turning a character whose autonomy is stripped away by a curse into a wandering scare actor meant to entertain guests.
Despite this tension, Universal is fully embracing the character, with actress Inde Navarrette previously expressing interest in reprising her role as Nikki if the chance arises. With Halloween Horror Nights running select nights through November 1 at both the Hollywood and Orlando locations, fans eager to encounter Nikki will need to stay vigilant, as Murdy noted, she might just be searching for her next obsession.
