Nikki Glaser is set to join the voice cast of Netflix’s upcoming animated film ‘Steps’, adding yet another notable name to this exciting fantasy adventure. The streaming giant announced that Glaser will lend her voice to Priscilla, a villainous character determined to control those around her, willing to go to any lengths to achieve her goals.

This announcement comes as Netflix gears up to unveil more details about one of its most significant animated projects slated for 2026. According to information released by Netflix and the production team, ‘Steps’ will be one of the two major animated feature films leading the platform’s upcoming lineup.

Glaser described her role as an enjoyable challenge, noting that portraying Priscilla allowed her to delve into a character vastly different from herself. “It was a cathartic joy to voice the character of Priscilla – the jealous, try-hard, wannabe Princess, who’s fueled by deep-seated insecurities of unlovability and inadequacy,” she stated.

She humorously remarked on how unlike her own personality Priscilla is, saying, “This role was quite a stretch for me because these are all characteristics that I do not at all relate to as a woman who has spent two decades clawing my way through show business.”

Best known for her stand-up comedy, Glaser has already established a strong relationship with Netflix. She appeared in the Netflix comedy series ‘The Degenerates’ and released her 2019 special ‘Bangin’’ on the platform. Additionally, she participated in Netflix’s successful roast of Tom Brady, where she joined fellow comedians in poking fun at the football star.

Glaser’s upcoming projects include ‘The Fifth Wheel’, a comedy from Paula Pell and Janine Brito, where she will star alongside Kim Kardashian.

With Glaser now on board, ‘Steps’ continues to draw in well-known talent. The film already boasts several major actors, including Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu, who were announced in lead roles back in December 2025. Amanda Seyfried later joined the cast, followed by Bette Midler, famous for her role in ‘Hocus Pocus’.

‘Steps’ will be a significant milestone for Netflix Animation Studios, marking the studio’s first fully in-house animated feature film. Directed by Alyce Tzue, a Student Academy Award winner, and John Ripa, co-director of ‘Raya and the Last Dragon’, the movie offers a fresh take on the classic Cinderella tale.

The plot centers around two stepsisters, Lilith and Margot, who are fed up with being portrayed as the villains in Cinderella’s story. After they steal the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand, they inadvertently shatter their world and put the kingdom at risk. This blunder allows Priscilla, now voiced by Glaser, to seize power.

To rectify their mistake, Lilith must team up with Cinderella as they confront dangerous foes, including biker trolls and villainous guards, while navigating the enigmatic Screaming Woods. The narrative aims to subvert traditional fairy tale conventions and provide a unique twist on the beloved Cinderella universe.

‘Steps’ is being produced with support from Paper Kite Productions, featuring Amy Poehler and Kim Lessing, alongside producer Jane Hartwell. The film also boasts a large, comedy-focused writing team, including Ava Tramer, James Madejski, Dana Schwartz, Felicia Ho, Jen Chuck, Riki Lindhome, and Kate Micucci.

More information about ‘Steps’ is anticipated soon, with a special work-in-progress presentation scheduled at Annecy. Directors Alyce Tzue and John Ripa, along with members of the production team, are expected to share further insights into the film’s development ahead of its Netflix release later in 2026.
