Noomi Rapace Stars in Dystopian Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Hot Spot’ Trailer Release

Agnieszka Smoczyńska is set to take audiences into a perilous future with ‘Hot Spot’, a new science fiction thriller featuring Noomi Rapace. The official trailer for this highly anticipated film has just been unveiled, offering a glimpse into a world dominated by powerful artificial intelligence and a mystery that could alter everything.

Set in a future where sentient AI governs society, ‘Hot Spot’ follows a private investigator tasked with solving a murder case. However, the investigation quickly escalates when the detective uncovers a hidden rebel group that may possess the means to challenge the digital system controlling the world.

Directed by Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczyńska, known for her visually striking films, ‘Hot Spot’ features a cast led by Noomi Rapace, alongside Andrzej Konopka and Reika Kirishima in significant roles.

Rapace has established a reputation for engaging in intense and unconventional projects, with notable performances in films such as ‘Prometheus’ and ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’. In ‘Hot Spot’, she navigates another challenging role, portraying a character entangled in a perilous conflict between humanity and artificial intelligence.

Initially announced in June 2020, the film underwent a lengthy development process before production commenced. Filming took place in Greece and officially concluded on November 22, 2024.

Cinematographer Jakub Kijowski crafted the film’s visual style, while Marcin Macuk and Zuzanna Wrońska composed the score. Their contributions are expected to enhance the tense atmosphere of a future where technology poses a threat rather than merely serving as a tool.

‘Hot Spot’ has garnered international interest ahead of its release, with New Europe Film Sales managing international sales rights. Focus Features will handle international distribution, excluding Poland, Greece, and France, where The Jokers will take on distribution duties.

The film is set to premiere at the 30th Fantasia International Film Festival in July 2026. Following its festival debut, ‘Hot Spot’ will hit North American theaters on August 21.
