Paul Bettany Calls ‘VisionQuest’ Super Exciting While Praising James Spader
Paul Bettany is sharing an exciting update about VisionQuest, describing the upcoming series as “moving,” “super exciting,” and a significant continuation of the narrative that began with WandaVision.
In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Bettany discussed the Disney+ series, highlighting it as a major creative advancement for the Marvel universe. He noted that the show feels like part of a larger trilogy while also standing independently.
He remarked, “It manages to feel very much like it’s somehow a part of that world, an end to a trilogy of sorts, whilst also being very much its own thing, and it is just really good. I’m really proud of it.”
Bettany mentioned that the project has been in post-production for an extended period, continually improving as visual effects are incorporated. He expressed that the final product is shaping up in ways that continue to surprise him.
He explained, “I keep seeing cuts of it that just are getting better and better, and then, as all the effects get placed in — it’s funny, it’s moving and it’s super exciting. [Showrunner Terry Matalas] did a grand job.”
VisionQuest takes place after the events of WandaVision and follows Vision, the android portrayed by Bettany, as he attempts to rebuild his memory and comprehend his identity following his death and subsequent return in earlier Marvel narratives.
The series also features the return of James Spader as Ultron. Bettany spoke fondly of collaborating with him again, describing the experience as enjoyable and memorable.
He stated, “He is delicious. He’s so funny in this; it’s so delicious to watch him, and we loved working together.”
In addition to Bettany and Spader, the cast includes Todd Stashwick as Paladin, a mercenary targeting Vision’s technology, and Faran Tahir, returning as Raza from Iron Man (2008).
Bettany also highlighted the relationship between Vision and Ultron as a crucial element of the storyline, although he refrained from disclosing too much about how the villain returns or his role in the series.
VisionQuest is set to premiere on October 14 on Disney+, and fans are eagerly anticipating how it will tie into the broader Marvel storyline and conclude the arc that began with WandaVision.
