A new Fast & Furious television series is officially in the works at Peacock, representing a significant step for the franchise into long-form TV storytelling. This exciting announcement was made by Vin Diesel during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York, where he shared the stage with Jimmy Fallon. The details were revealed in an official announcement at the event.

Diesel emphasized that fans have long been eager for more stories from the franchise, particularly concerning the legacy characters and their expansive universe.

“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more. They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe,” Diesel stated.

However, despite his mention of multiple shows, sources close to the project clarified that only one series is currently confirmed to be actively developed at Peacock, while other concepts remain in the early stages at Universal Television.

Details regarding the plot of the upcoming series are being kept under wraps for now, and there is no official release date available. What is known is that the series will broaden the Fast & Furious universe while remaining true to its fundamental themes of family, loyalty, and action.

The show is being penned and executive produced by Mike Daniels, recognized for his work on Sons of Anarchy and Shades of Blue, alongside Wolfe Coleman. Vin Diesel will also serve as an executive producer through his One Race banner, with Sam Vincent, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Chris Morgan joining him. Universal Television will oversee production.

This isn’t the first time the franchise has ventured into television. Netflix previously launched the animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which aired for six seasons from 2019 to 2021.

The Fast & Furious franchise remains one of the most successful action series in film history, boasting 11 movies released to date and over $7 billion in global earnings. The next installment, Fast Forever, is slated for release in 2028.
