‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 3 First Look Shows New Characters and Early Premiere
Disney Plus has successfully transformed ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ into a standout young adult series, consistently ranking among the platform’s most-watched originals since its debut. With two successful seasons already completed, the demigod adventure has built a strong rapport with fans, a feat few adaptations achieve after a rocky initial film attempt.
This trust has only intensified as the show gears up for its next chapter, especially with significant changes behind the scenes. Production wrapped months ago, and with post-production in full swing, fans have eagerly awaited solid details about Percy and his friends’ next adventures.
Entertainment Weekly has revealed a fresh look at Season 3 of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ confirming that the show will premiere on Disney+ on November 20. This release date is notably earlier than the franchise’s typical schedule, arriving about a month ahead of the December premieres of the previous two seasons.
Season 3 will adapt ‘The Titan’s Curse,’ the third novel in Rick Riordan’s acclaimed series, pushing Percy into a quest described by the show as darker and more expansive. This installment introduces the Hunters of Artemis and a growing threat to Olympus, raising the mythological stakes to new heights.
Walker Scobell returns as Percy Jackson, joined by Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood, continuing their journey from the first two seasons. New cast members for Season 3 include Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite and Dafne Keen as Artemis, both significant Olympian roles that will enhance the show’s expanding pantheon of gods.

The shift in premiere date appears to be a strategic move in light of the current release calendar. Season 3 is now set to debut the same day as ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ hits theaters, allowing both franchise adaptations to attract fantasy fans during the same November weekend without competing for holiday attention.
This marks the franchise’s first television adaptation of ‘The Titan’s Curse,’ a novel initially planned for a feature film before those plans were shelved. Adapting the story for television allows the creative team to delve deeper into the book’s mythology without the limitations of a two-hour film.
The show’s creative team has also managed to significantly reduce the wait time between seasons this time, delivering Season 3 just ten months after the Season 2 finale. This quick turnaround contrasts sharply with the two-year gap fans faced between the first and second seasons.
Audience reception has been a crucial factor in the franchise’s ongoing investment. The series has maintained strong audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes across both previous seasons, with ratings improving from Season 1 to Season 2, providing Disney with a clear incentive to keep the adaptation progressing at a faster pace.
While a fourth season has not yet been officially confirmed, reports indicate that early development discussions are already in progress. Given the positive reception of the franchise so far, and with Season 3 promising its most significant mythological stakes yet, it seems likely that Disney will want to continue this quest for the foreseeable future.
