Release Date Confirmed: First Look at ‘Slow Horses’ Season 6 With Returning Cast
Apple TV has unveiled the first look at season six of Slow Horses, offering fans a fresh glimpse of Gary Oldman reprising his role as the sharp-tongued Jackson Lamb. The images also confirm the return of Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, continuing the narrative of MI5 agents working in the intelligence agency’s lowest-ranked department, Slough House.
The new season is set to begin streaming on Apple TV on September 16, with episodes released weekly on Thursdays. This announcement comes directly from Apple TV, which also shared the first official images from the upcoming season.
The photos showcase Gary Oldman once again in the role of Jackson Lamb, the leader of Slough House. Lamb is characterized by his rudeness, disheveled appearance, and exceptional skills, despite his unkempt look. Jack Lowden returns as River Cartwright, a former field agent relegated to Slough House after a career misstep. Their complex working relationship remains a central theme of the series.

Additional cast members featured in the newly released images include Kristin Scott Thomas, Tom Brooke, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Lenny Rush, and Christopher Chung. The wider cast returning for season six also includes Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Jonathan Pryce, and Hugo Weaving. The show continues to present a large ensemble, with numerous characters collaborating and often clashing within the realm of British intelligence.

Apple TV also shared a brief official description of the new season, stating: “The Slow Horses are on the run as Diana Taverner (played by Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge.” This indicates that the new season will center on danger, pressure, and significant conflict as the team strives to survive against powerful adversaries.
Slow Horses is adapted from the novels by Mick Herron and produced by See-Saw Films for Apple TV. Since its premiere in 2022, the series has emerged as one of the platform’s most successful offerings, garnering critical acclaim and winning six BAFTA TV Awards along with two Emmy Awards. The blend of spy drama, dark humor, and character-driven storytelling has cultivated a dedicated fanbase.

Season six continues to benefit from a strong production team. Executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski, and Gary Oldman himself. The season is adapted for television by Gaby Chiappe, who also serves as co-executive producer. Adam Randall returns as director, maintaining his involvement with the series.
The first five seasons of Slow Horses are currently available for streaming on Apple TV, allowing new viewers to catch up before the next chapter begins.
With its returning cast, new conflicts, and the familiar blend of tension and dark humor, season six is poised to continue the show’s successful run on the platform, according to information shared by Apple TV.
