Robert Pattinson Sets the Record Straight on Training for ‘The Batman’
Robert Pattinson has responded to claims that he didn’t train adequately for The Batman, clarifying that he actually engaged in intense workouts while preparing for the role.
In a candid interview, the actor addressed the criticism surrounding his physical transformation in the 2022 film, stating that the public reaction didn’t reflect the reality of his training routine.
“Everyone was like: ‘You didn’t work out at all.’ I worked out every fucking day,” Pattinson shared. “Even after that, I still look like I didn’t work out. I worked out twice a day at, like, three o’clock in the morning.”
He noted that the misconceptions may stem from his comments during promotional interviews, where he joked about exercise and didn’t adhere to the typical superhero training narrative. Reflecting on it, he admitted that his attempt to sound cool might have backfired. “I’m like, it’s just because I said it in an interview. I was trying to sound cool!”
Pattinson also mentioned that he has continued his training in anticipation of The Batman: Part II, which is expected to begin production soon. However, he revealed that he hasn’t yet received a complete filming schedule, despite hearing that it could involve long night shoots. “And I just heard from the stunt guy the other day. He said, ‘11 weeks of nights.’ I’m like, ‘Excuse me?’ I’m like, ‘No one’s even sent me a schedule.’”
The actor’s comments come during a busy phase in his career, as he balances significant film projects with personal life changes. Recently, he welcomed a child with partner Suki Waterhouse and briefly discussed how this has altered his routine, making it more structured and calmer than in previous years.
“I’m a little more relaxed about a lot of different things,” Pattinson said, noting that parenthood has influenced his energy levels and daily habits, even changing how he perceives downtime and rest.
At the same time, Pattinson reflected on the demanding nature of his recent workload, which includes consecutive major productions and collaborations with renowned directors. He admitted that the fast pace of modern filmmaking can be overwhelming, especially when projects overlap or shift.
He also humorously commented on how quickly public perception can form around actors, particularly following significant franchise roles. Despite his frustrations, he seemed to find amusement in the disconnect between audience expectations and reality.
The discussion also touched on his long-standing relationship with fame, which began with his role in the Harry Potter franchise and later expanded through Twilight and various indie and blockbuster films. Over the years, he has sought to balance large studio projects with smaller, more experimental roles.

Despite the noise surrounding his physique as Batman, Pattinson’s focus appears to remain on his work rather than public discourse. His remarks convey a blend of humor and irritation, alongside an acceptance that online narratives often take on a life of their own.
As The Batman: Part II approaches production, his training routine is set to intensify once more. For now, Pattinson seems more concerned with managing expectations than proving anything to his critics.
