The much-anticipated surprise linked to the rollout of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ turned out to be smaller than fans had hoped, yet it still garnered significant attention when directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo made an appearance at a Doctor Doom-themed coffee pop-up in London.

As reported by fans online, the surprise event occurred around 2 PM in East London at a temporary coffee shop named Dom Latveria Coffee. This location is a rebranded version of Flying Horse Coffee in Shoreditch, conveniently situated near the SXSW London festival, where the Russo brothers are also set to appear for an AGBO-related event.

Although the appearance was brief, it attracted a crowd of excited fans eager to see the Russos in person. Instead of a trailer or significant Marvel reveal, the directors arrived around 2:15 PM, distributing Latveria flags and signing bags of coffee for attendees.

Despite some disappointment, many attendees expressed their excitement at the opportunity to meet the filmmakers behind some of Marvel’s most iconic films. The pop-up shop embraced Marvel-style worldbuilding, with visitors sharing videos and images showcasing Latveria-themed branding, coffee bags, and signage inspired by Doctor Doom’s fictional homeland. One slogan on the packaging read, “The official coffee of world domination.” Another cheeky line stated, “Approved by the ministry of morale. Resistance is delicious.”

The coffee branding also featured fictional details claiming the beans were sourced from the “Finca Latveria Reserve” and harvested by “those who serve.” Despite the dramatic flair, fans noted that the coffee itself seemed to be standard blends presented in themed packaging.

Another intriguing detail was a sign inside the shop that read “Welcome to Latveria,” followed by the phrase “Richards was wrong,” referencing Marvel character Reed Richards and his long-standing rivalry with Doctor Doom.

The event followed several days of online speculation fueled by cryptic posts from former Fortnite creative director Donald Mustard, who is now collaborating with the Russos at AGBO. His teaser about a “surprise at 2 PM” led many fans to anticipate a major reveal or the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

Given Doctor Doom’s expected significant role in the upcoming film, the coffee shop stunt quickly sparked theories about a larger announcement. When nothing substantial materialized, reactions online ranged from disappointment to humorous takes on the marketing strategy.

Despite the mixed reactions, the Russo brothers’ in-person appearance was celebrated as a highlight for fans present. Many shared that, although the reveal did not meet expectations, the chance to see the filmmakers in person made the experience worthwhile.

Marvel Studios has yet to officially comment on the event or the ongoing speculation. For now, fans continue to await the first official footage from Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to hit theaters on December 18.
