Marvel Studios has established a tradition of transforming its Comic-Con Hall H panels into a spectacle of surprise reveals, leaving fans guessing which actor might make an unexpected appearance next. This year’s panel for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ embraced that unpredictability more than ever, featuring a continuous stream of returning stars throughout the event.

While most surprises followed a familiar pattern, with actors like Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans confirming their roles in the expansive crossover event, one particular reveal broke the mold, turning what could have been a routine cast confirmation into one of the weekend’s most discussed moments.

Ryan Reynolds made a surprise entrance dressed entirely in a denim version of the Deadpool costume, a look he humorously dubbed Jeanpool on his Instagram Stories. According to reports, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige called on an audience member holding what he described as swords to pose a question to the Doomsday cast, setting the stage for Reynolds’ unexpected appearance in character.

Speaking through the mask, Reynolds introduced himself as a longtime listener and first-time caller, expressing his admiration for Downey and the rest of the cast before diving into his comedic routine. He quipped that he opted not to wear a Doom mask over his Deadpool mask to preserve the lines of what he referred to as his Canadian tuxedo, a nod to the character’s iconic denim-inspired outfit from the comics.

Reynolds then directed his attention to Paul Rudd, asking where Thor was and why he was crying, referencing a brief scene from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Rudd responded with a joke about Reynolds’ ownership of Wrexham football club, keeping the playful banter in line with the irreverent tone fans expect from any Deadpool appearance.

Reynolds’ Jeanpool persona also inquired whether ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ was still in production, seemingly hoping for a chance to sneak into the filming before it concluded. Unfortunately, he received the disappointing news that there would be no additional photography or opportunities for him to join in.

This playful moment ties directly into months of speculation regarding Deadpool’s potential appearance in the film. Reynolds ignited a wave of fan theories last year after sharing an image of the Avengers logo altered with a spray-painted red A, reminiscent of graffiti seen in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ Despite the hints, reports have indicated that if Deadpool does appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ he will not be formally joining the Avengers team.

In previous interviews, Reynolds has been somewhat vague about whether he would don the Deadpool suit again, telling Variety that he genuinely wasn’t sure if he would reprise the role, although he expressed hope that he would get the chance in the future.

Whether this Comic-Con appearance serves as an official confirmation of Deadpool’s role or simply another elaborate prank from one of Hollywood’s most notorious jokers remains uncertain. Regardless, Reynolds once again demonstrated his ability to turn even a costume stunt into one of the biggest highlights of the entire convention.
