Sadie Sink Sparks Theories as Jean Grey in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Marvel fans are buzzing with speculation about Sadie Sink’s character in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ following the release of a new image from the upcoming film that has ignited fresh theories online.
Since Sink joined the cast, Marvel and Sony have kept her character under wraps. While most of the film’s major cast members have known roles, Sink remains one of the biggest enigmas surrounding the project. This secrecy has only fueled fan curiosity as new footage and promotional material tease her character without revealing her identity.
A newly shared image, taken from the latest trailer, shows Sink in a hooded outfit and face covering, standing in what appears to be a workshop. The photo quickly caught the attention of fans, many of whom noted similarities between this image and scenes already shown in trailers for the movie.
The latest trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ features a hooded character believed to be portrayed by Sink. In several brief moments, the character appears to wield mysterious powers that resemble telekinesis or mind control. Another scene suggests she may be linked to the appearance of a savage version of the Hulk during one of the film’s action sequences.
These hints have led many fans to revisit one of the most popular theories regarding Sink’s casting: that she is secretly playing Jean Grey.
Jean Grey is a well-known member of the X-Men, endowed with powerful psychic abilities. As Marvel Studios gradually introduces mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many viewers speculate that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ could be an early step toward integrating the X-Men into the franchise.
The speculation intensified after industry insider Daniel Richtman reportedly claimed that Sink is portraying Jean Grey. Although Marvel has not confirmed this information, the rumor has rapidly circulated among fans eager to see the X-Men finally join the MCU.
Despite the ongoing theories, Sink has been cautious when discussing her role. During Fandango’s Big Ticket interview alongside the cast, she refrained from revealing any details about her character.
“I really like the character, and that’s all I’ll say.”
That brief comment was enough to keep fans guessing.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set four years after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Following Doctor Strange’s spell that erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, Peter is now completely alone, operating as Spider-Man without the support of his friends and loved ones.
According to the film’s official premise, Peter spends his time protecting New York City while investigating a new and dangerous threat. Simultaneously, he begins experiencing a strange evolution of his powers that could jeopardize his future.
The movie boasts a large cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film aims to return Spider-Man to a more street-level narrative while also setting up larger developments within the MCU.
Until Marvel officially reveals Sink’s character, fans will continue to scrutinize every trailer frame, promotional image, and interview for clues. Whether she turns out to be Jean Grey or someone entirely unexpected, her role has already become one of the most talked-about aspects of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’
The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31.
