Samara Weaving Once Pretended to Be ‘Wuthering Heights’ Star Margot Robbie at an Airport
Actress Samara Weaving recently shared a humorous anecdote about a case of mistaken identity involving Margot Robbie.
Weaving recounted an incident from about ten years ago at an airport when a fan mistakenly thought she was Robbie. Rather than correct the fan, she decided to play along. She recalled, “I remember I was in an airport. It must have been like 10 years ago, and someone thought I was Margot. I just couldn’t break it to them that I wasn’t, so I posed for a photo with the fan, saying that I was Margot.”
She expressed curiosity about what happened after that encounter, saying, “I don’t know, they might have looked at it later and been like, that’s not— that’s some random lady. So yeah, I might be in someone’s phone thinking that it’s Margot, but other than that, no. I don’t leave the house enough.”
This story emphasizes how frequently fans compare Weaving to Margot Robbie online. Many have noted their striking resemblance over the years, and she is also sometimes likened to other actresses like Emma Mackey and Jaime Pressly. Despite these mix-ups, Weaving and Robbie share a genuine friendship.
The two actresses have navigated similar Hollywood circles and have supported each other at various events. They both appeared in the film Babylon and have attended each other’s premieres. Weaving showed her support for Robbie at the Barbie premiere in 2023, and later, Robbie returned the favor by attending a screening of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come in Los Angeles.
In the same PEOPLE interview, Weaving also discussed her personal life and the support she has received from friends as she prepares for motherhood. She mentioned that Robbie, who welcomed a child with her husband Tom Ackerley in 2024, is part of a supportive group of friends offering advice.
Weaving shared, “Oh my gosh, all my girls here who are moms have just been so lovely, and I think what they all tell me is just, ‘You do it your way. Whatever makes you feel comfortable.’” She added, “I think our society, there’s so many voices and opinions and that it’s tough for women, especially when they’re pregnant and being a mom. So they’re all just so supportive of, whatever I want to do is good.”
In addition to her personal stories, Weaving is promoting her upcoming film Carolina Caroline. Directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier, the movie follows two lovers on a chaotic crime spree across the American Southeast. It stars Kyle Gallner and originally premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025.
The film is set for a theatrical release on June 5.
